Highlands Ranch Aquatics, located on the south side of Denver, Colorado, is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our age group program into the future. Our longtime Head Age Group Coach is retiring in August and we’re looking for the right person to take the reigns. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about stroke mechanics, age group progressions, and have great leadership, teaching, and communication skills. This individual will also be enthusiastic, patient, and team-oriented. This is a full time position with benefits.
The Head Age Group Coach duties include providing vision and direction to the age group coaching staff to ensure a clear and cohesive training/teaching progression, provide mentoring for the staff, collaborate with the Head Coach on practice and competition scheduling, and development of the season and long-range plan to ensure the continued growth and success of the club. In this position the Head Age Group coach will lead one or two groups, ages 8 to 14, at his/her discretion. Additional administrative responsibilities include processing entry files for meets, publishing a weekly team newsletter, coordinating and executing the age group weekly coaching/practice schedule, and miscellaneous duties customary of the position or as assigned by the Head Coach. The applicant must understand the importance of teamwork and will be committed to helping our program advance.
Highlands Ranch Aquatics Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit coach directed, board supported, organization that has been developing swimmers at the local, state, and national level for over 25 years. In the past four years the team has grown from approximately 125 to over 280 swimmers, in the process developing age group and senior state champions, numerous Jr and Sr National qualifiers, and multiple Olympic Trials qualifiers. In 2022 HRA was awarded a Bronze level designation by USA-Swimming.
- Three to five years coaching experience at the age group level with a proven track record developing age group swimmers at the LSC and zone level;
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills;
- Extensive knowledge of stroke mechanics;
- Must be enthusiastic and team oriented;
- Proficient use of Team Unify;
- Current USA-Swimming certifications; and
- Background in competitive swimming and/or degree associated with youth development, physical fitness, exercise science, etc. a plus.
