Nature of Work

 

The City of Northglenn is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to fill a year-round, full-time Head Swim Coach position. The incumbent will lead and oversee the Northglenn Fusion Swim Club, a member of USA Swimming.

 

The Head Swim Coach is charged with supervising, instructing, and coaching all participants enrolled in the swim club while fostering an environment focused on learning and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through the sport of swimming.  On going communication to athletes and families is required.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Designs and implements a wide variety of swim training programs. Aids with swim club program design.

 

Serves as the liaison between the Parks, Recreation, & Culture Department and USA Swimming.

 

Communicates effectively with swim club members, member families, potential members and their families, other coaches, staff, meet officials, and supervisors.

 

Assists with the recruitment and development of coaching staff and athletes.

 

Works collaboratively with the recreation supervisor and aquatics coordinator to establish and meet club goals and objectives.

 

Coordinates and manages all swim club logistics to include meet and practice schedules, training plans, team enrollment, monthly billing, record retention, etc.

 

Maintain swim equipment and work with supervisor to identify any needs.

 

Effectively manages risk associated with running a swim team.

 

Actively engage in regular meetings with supervisor.

 

Support swim club marketing efforts. Update Team Unify website with seasonal information including meet results, lineups, events, calendar, swimmer profiles, parent accounts, and team statistics.  Updating website consistently to reflect changes and important information.

 

Send regular communications to parents through Team Unify website and social media platforms, such as email.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. One or more years of college in a related field such as recreation, exercise science, sports management, physical education, etc., preferred.

 

Two or more years of previous swim coaching experience.

 

Must be at least 21 years of age

 

Must have previous experience and knowledge of USA swim team.

Possession of all applicable USA Swimming coaching certifications or willingness to obtain within 3 month of employment

 

Knowledge and experience with Team Unify software, preferred.

 

Current lifeguard certification and American Red Cross Safety Training for Coaches or ability to

obtain within first 3 months of employment

 

Supplemental Information

 

Swim Club Schedule:

  • Practices Monday-Friday 6:30pm-9:00pm | Saturday 7:30am-10:00am
  • One to two weekend swim meets per month
  • Occasional out-of-state swim competitions

 

Selected candidate will be required to complete and pass a background investigation physical and drug screen.

 

Duties may require standing, walking, and sitting for long periods; handling and operating objects and equipment, reaching outward and above shoulders to carry, pull, push or lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.

Full Range:  $22.04 – $28.65
Hiring Range:  $22.04 – $25.34 DOQ
