About the Waves:  The East Grand Rapids Aquatics swim club is looking for energetic, knowledgeable and passionate candidates who are interested in coaching age-group swimmers. We have a fun and exciting swim team that is growing and is supported by an awesome group of parents.  

Our staff is family oriented and we work as a team to support the swim program and our own families.  We share and delegate responsibilities so  coaches have time with their families, time to recharge and to enjoy life.  Coaching is demanding and we value a balanced approach of work and life in our program. 

 

Position/Description:  Full time assistant coach

Jobs duties include:

  1. Coaches both our beginning and age-group swimmers as assigned by the head coach. 
  2. Plans practices for growth and skill development of swimmers that fit into the team progressions. 
  3. Teaches swimmers about setting goals and mental aspects of the sport. 
  4. Maintains attendance and oversees meet entries for the groups. 
  5. Attends meets with assigned groups. 
  6. Communicates with families once a month with group updates, responds to emails/phone calls/text messages within the next business day.  
  7. Assists with running lessons and clinics. 
  8. Assists with running home hosted events. 
  9. Other duties may be assigned by the head coach.

Compensation: This is a salaried position and will range from $25,000-$30,000 based on experience.  Team pays for all certifications and licensing.  Employer will also pay a stipend per month to use towards personal healthcare and/or investing. Paid time off in between and during seasons.

Desired qualities/Certifications : At least 2 years of coaching experience at the club, high school, college

level.  

An ability to teach and refine swimming skills. 

A passion for working with swimmers of various abilities and helping them reach their potential in a fun, team environment. 

Lifeguard/CPR certification
