Nitro Swimming, winners of 15 Texas Age Group Swimming Championships, and one of the top programs in USA Swimming is saying goodbye to our Head Age Group Coach from our Cedar Park location. After 6+ years with us he is moving on to become the Head Coach of a program in Tulsa. We wish him the best and we are very proud that he will be running his own team at his next stop. We’re confident he will put that team on the map in record time! Way to go Jeremy!
It’s not very often a position opens up on our staff. But with Jeremy moving on, one is now created.
We are actively seeking a Head Age Group Coach for our Cedar Park location, on the north side of the Austin, Texas area.
This particular coach would be primarily working with our 12 and Unders, Lead Coach responsibility of a group or two, mentoring the age group Coaches, assist in identifying the needs of the overall program, group moves/athlete advancements.
There is no program that is perfect. Every program can always identify ways to improve. We’re looking for that next Coach to help us in that never ending process of getting better. .
Our Nitro Cedar Park location is approx. 30,000 sq ft. Indoors, with two beautiful pools.
Our main pool is 25 yards x 50 meters, and is configured currently at 23 lanes, kept year round between 79-81 degrees. We also have a warm water lessons pool where we are Austin’s #1 learn to swim destination, the Nitro Swim School.
We are looking for that special Coach who is a LEADER who LOVES interacting with kids, ENJOYS working in a fast paced positive and competitive swim environment, and is EAGER to join the hardest working coaching staff in the country.
This is a salaried position with very attractive pay ($45,000+) including a Humana health care package plus paid time off (PTO).
We also provide something we call “Rolling Days.” We recognize that some parts of a season it’s not unusual for some Coaches in other programs to go 21 or even 28 days straight without a day away from the deck. For that reason whenever a Sunday meet session occurs we then allow the Coach to take a “rolling day” off the next week – and we cover their groups/responsibilities to allow them a chance to rest/reload/recover. Rolling days are not accrued against any vacation days/paid time off. Our rolling days are one of the many reasons we keep Coaches happy here.
Private lessons are also available to teach. Our Coaches are paid $40/hr for those.
“Typical” on deck coaching hours would be Mon-Thur 4:00-9:00PM; Fridays 4:00-7:30PM; and Saturdays 8:30AM-12:30PM.
You would have no scheduled office hours, but would be expected to be an expert and timely communicator with our groups and families. Must possess that never ending desire to make every kiddo in front of you better in the short time you have them each day… Regardless if they are a once a week swimmer or multiple times a week… Regardless if they are leading the lane or struggling to keep up in the 5th or 6th position (or 4th position due to current covid spacing)…Regardless if it is the first practice of the day or the last. It is Lights, Camera, Action every day, every practice, every set.
This is not the pool deck to stand around and twirl a stopwatch and bark out sets. Nor is it the pool deck to be seated in a chair. We are on the move. We are active Coaches. We expect a lot from the kids in front of us, and the least we can do is match that energy.
Our Mission Statement is 9 words:
“Visible Improvement. Delivered with Passion and Joy. Every day.”
If you’re relentless in this pursuit and believe you can elevate our pool deck even higher with your skills, talent, work ethic, leadership, experience, positive energy, love for the sport, and your eye for the details, I’d love to hear from you.
The energy on the pool deck driven by the coaches is what makes the Nitro engine run. Hard to describe 23 lanes of high octane energy churning at once, with coaches up and down the pool deck feeding off of each other, but that’s what we do.
Send me a note explaining why you believe you should be considered. Also include your competitive swimming and/or coaching experience including any particular skills/training such as Meet management, etc., along with references.
Looking to fill this position immediately.
We have plans on expanding, so if you’d like to be in our “on deck” circle for about a year or so from now (or referred to as our bullpen), let me know that as well.
Thank you! Mike Koleber, Nitro Swimming.
