The YMCA of the Roses is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Competitive Swimming to lead our elite swim team, the York YMCA. With nearly 100 years of history in competitive swimming, the York YMCA swim team is one of the most successful in the region, with athletes excelling at state, national, and international levels.
This position is under the direction of the Vice President of Operations and will be responsible for leading the competitive swim program, overseeing the Graham Aquatic Center, and providing excellent customer service.
The Director of Competitive Swimming will create a safe, positive, and engaging atmosphere that promotes participant engagement and safety. This role is directly responsible for fostering an environment where swimmers of all levels can excel, both in their athletic skills and personal development.
The team trains at the Graham Aquatic Center, a state-of-the-art, 16-lane facility spanning over 40,000 square feet. The facility hosts national and state-level swim meets at all levels and offers unmatched access to high-quality training environments and competition opportunities. Few teams have the privilege of such exclusive access to a premier aquatics facility, providing our athletes with a significant competitive edge.
In addition to coaching, the Director will oversee the daily operations of the swim team, ensuring the success of the program, the safety of participants, and the ongoing development of competitive swimmers. The Director will also have significant oversight of swimming events and other activities held within the Graham Aquatic Center, including coordination and management of events, facility scheduling, and logistical operations for swim meets and other activities. This includes ensuring that the facility is properly prepared for large-scale events and that all activities run smoothly and in compliance with YMCA policies.
