ASSISTANT HEAD OF AQUATICS – SWIMMING

The Post

UWCSEA has a vacancy for August 2019 at its Dover Campus for an Assistant Head of Aquatics.

We are looking for a confident, dynamic individual with emerging leadership skills who is able to collaborate and willing to work closely with the Head of Aquatics to develop the programme as a whole.  

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Aquatics, the incumbent will implement a world class, expansive Competitive Swimming Programme.

  • Develop and monitor long, medium and short term planning of the Competitive Coaching Programme; develop and monitor Competitive Swimmer assessment systems, target setting and feedback.
  • Mentor coaches delivering the Competitive Swim Programme; monitor Competitive Coach planning, delivery and assessment.
  • Lead coach U14 & U12 Competitive Squads. Coach High School competitive squads, learn to swim and P.E. swimming as required.
  • Manage Competitive Meet entries, Swimming Holiday Camps, International Meets and optional trips.
  • Lead the vision & content of the Competitive Team element of the Aquatics website.

Person Specification

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity.
  • Preferably ASCA Level 3 (USA) Coach or the former ASA/UKCC Level 3 certified or International equivalent and Certified First Aider.
  • Confident working on Team Manager and Meet Manager softwares.
  • Comfortable using social media, responsibly, as a tool to promote learning.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with children of different age groups, parents and staffs via all means, including regular public speaking and have an good understanding of the International School environment.
  • Able to multi-task, work independently and be excellent team play with good interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable to coach / teach for at least 1 week at the start and end of each school holiday break and during the summer programme.
