Age Group Development Coach

Applications due 04/30/19

Job Description:

Age Group Development Swim Coach

Description:

This person is responsible for coaching our Discover Group, covering dryland and in-water training as well as attending occasional meets. As a tightly knit, coach-run program, we all work closely together and share coverage during absences.

Discover Training Group:

Our Discover Group is currently our 2nd level on the year-round competitive team. Swimmers are typically between 9-11 years old, are legal in all strokes and need to be introduced to more structured training.

Normal Practice Schedule:

Monday-Thursday: 6:15-8pm

Friday: 6:30-8pm

Saturday: 9-10:30am

Meet Schedule:

Meets happen roughly 1-2 times per month. We take most all the month of August off each year and have a couple short breaks during the winter and spring.

About West Coast Aquatics:

We are a 501c3 non-profit, coach-run organization. We own and operate our facility and pride ourselves on fostering excellence both in and out of the pool while instilling life lessons such as dedication, sportsmanship and a strong work ethic.

Compensation:

Base Pay: $18-$20 per hour

End-Of-Year Bonus: We evaluate performance at the end of the fiscal year and if the organization is profitable, all employees receive a portion as an End-of-Year Bonus.

Necessary Experience:

Must have prior experience in either competitive swimming or coaching / teaching children.

Requirements:

Lifeguard & CPR Certified: must be capable of obtaining American Red Cross Lifeguarding & CPR Certification. Prefer if candidate is already certified, but we regularly offer classes throughout the year and will reimburse the cost of the class.

Strong Customer Service Skills: This position is one of the first lines of communication our team and the gateway to our entire program. Parents must be educated from the beginning on how to be a good swim parent and this person needs to be outgoing, friendly and personable.

Organized & Detail Oriented: We expect our coaches to lead by example and demand excellence while nurturing growth and learning. Given the young age of swimmers in this group, many are still discovering their passion for the sport and it is paramount they build a strong foundation of technique and skill.
