Job Description

LSC is looking for coaches to work with our competitive program. There are positions available for
various groups within the club. Coaches will be developing athletes’ physical, technical, and mental skills,
with the goal of preparing them for the next level of the competitive program. They must be comfortable
collaborating with other coaches, and be interested in learning and developing as a coach. Successful
candidates will be enthusiastic and have the ability to create an exciting and professional atmosphere for
young athletes.

Lakeshore Swim Club is Canada’s oldest continuously operating competitive swim club, founded in 1930
by Canadian Sports Hall of Famer Gus Ryder. LSC is a family-oriented club that operates with the
dedicated commitment of parent/guardian volunteers. Our philosophy is to give swimmers the
opportunity to be the best that they can be, realizing that each one has different goals and talents. We
encourage our swimmers to develop as far as their efforts and abilities will take them, and do our best to
accommodate a range of swimming abilities in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere. The club
offers competitive and pre-competitive swim programs for swimmers aged 6 and up.

Responsibilities/Expectations

• Attend all scheduled workouts, meets, and meetings – 100% attendance is expected
• Demonstrate effective coaching through knowledge, workout construction/implementation, and
interactions with athletes and parents
• Through regular communication and goal-setting, provide guidance and support to athletes towards
achieving their greatest potential athletically, academically, and personally
• Provide coverage for other coaches as necessary
• Perform administrative duties as appropriate and assigned – including, but not limited to: meet entries,
communication, and record keeping
• Demonstrate leadership, sportsmanship, and conduct becoming of the coaching profession
• Understand and abide by all internal and external regulations and policies, including but not limited to
Lakeshore Swim Club, Swim Ontario, and SNC
• Act as an ambassador of Lakeshore Swim Club by representing it in a professional, ethical, and positive
manner

Qualifications

• Maintain NCCP Level 1 or higher in swimming
• Maintain NLS and Standard First Aid certification
• Maintain a valid driver’s license
• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport and excellent instructional ability
• Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
• Ability to work well with a team
• Dependable, assertive, friendly, cooperative, flexible, tactful, and logical
• Ability to work well with a wide range of situations and personalities in a professional manner
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to deal with discretion in confidential and sensitive issues
• Ability to problem solve and work independently
• Ability to maintain physical and mental exertion over sustained periods of time to complete job
activities
• Ability to work evenings and weekends when required

Additional Information

• This is a part-time contract position
• Start date – September 1st, 2022
• End date – July 1st, 2023
• Salary is commensurate with experience
