Ilya Kharun swam to a new US Open Record and Pro Series Records in the men’s 50 butterfly, touching in a 22.73. That broke the previous record of a 22.80 set by Maxime Grousset of France earlier this year.

Kharun was just off his lifetime best 22.64 that he swam last month at the Mare Nostrum stop in Monaco.

With his win in the 50 fly tonight, Kharun swept all three butterfly events this week in Indianapolis. He is set to begin representing the US later this year as he becomes eligible in October. Kharun was 9th in the 50 fly in a 22.92 at the 2025 World Championships, just 0.01 from making the final. Dare Rose was the top finisher for the US then with a 23.02 in semifinals for 12th.
