Dublin Community Swim Team’s Ethan Shaw has verbally committed to swim at Purdue University beginning in the 2020-2021 season.

Shaw competed at the 2019 Ohio MAKO Senior Circuit in in March, finishing in the top eight in the 200 and 400 IM, and the 200 fly and 1650. His second-place performance in the 200 IM qualified him for the 2019 Futures meet. Similarly, he finished third in the 1650, qualifying for another 2019 Futures event.
During his junior year at Dublin Coffman High School, Shaw competed at the Central, East and Southeast District Meet. There, he swam the 200 and 500 free, placing fourth and third, respectively. His 200 free time was three seconds faster than what he had gone the previous week at the Central District Sectionals, and his 500 was ten seconds faster. His time of 4:33.91 qualified him for a third event at the 2019 Futures meet.
Shaw has made significant progress in his main events over the last year. The progression in his SCY times is:

At the 2019 Big Ten Conference Championships, it took a 4:24.77, 3:53.06, and 15:26.17 to score in the 500 free, 400 IM, and 1650. Shaw will be joining sprinter Coleman Modglin and distance freestyler Griffin Seaver as a member of the class of 2024.
