INDIANAPOLIS – USA Diving named eight Texas divers to the 2023 USA Diving High Performance squad, the organization announced on Wednesday. The prestigious squad is comprised of divers who most exhibit the potential, skill and determination to become future U.S. Olympic Team members.
The High Performance Squad consists of three tiers, with the third tier being divided into a Junior and Senior tier, which athletes have qualified for based on scores at designated competitions throughout the previous calendar year.
Highlighting the Tier One squad is 2020 Tokyo Olympian, three-time All-American and two-time Big 12 Diver of the Year Hailey Hernandez. She will be competing for Team USA at the World Aquatics World Cup on Saturday, May 6 on the 3-meter springboard.
The USA Diving Tier Three Senior squad includes Janie Boyle, Noah Duperre, Andrew Harness, Nick Harris, Brendan McCourt, Bridget O’Neil and Jordan Skilken.
In addition, Longhorn signee Tanner Braunton was named to the HPS Tier Three Junior Squad.
USA Diving will offer each selected athlete support based on their level of accomplishment. Being a member of the High Performance Squad does not provide automatic access to international competitions or the Olympics, as those opportunities must be earned according to a clearly defined selection process open to all USA Diving athletes.
Qualifiers for the USA Diving National Championships will take place in Morgantown, W.Va. on May 16-18 with the National Championships beginning on May 17.
