Brown’s Catherine Yu Wins Three Events To Highlight BU Winter Invite

BOSTON – The Boston University swimming & diving teams closed out their home schedule on Saturday with the final two sessions of the Boston Winter Open at FitRec Competition Pool.

Freshman Molly Barber and sophomore Cambria Jewett won the 100- and 200-yard butterfly races, respectively, in tune-ups for the Patriot League Championships. Barber won her race in 55.16 while Jewett posted a season-best 2:04.27.

On the men’s side, sophomore Giovanni Sullo won the 200 butterfly with the fourth-fastest time in school history at 1:47.97 while sophomore Abraham Lee jumped into the top 10 for the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.40. That placed him second in the race and sixth in the BU record books.

Senior Jackson Hogue wrapped up his BU career with a pair of season bests in the breaststroke, swimming the 100 in 56.32 before clocking a 2:04.71 in the 200 for his final race in the evening.

Sophomore Julijana Jellc closed out her season with a season-best 57.10 in the 100 backstroke in the afternoon session before posting a 2:03.26 in the 200 backstroke in the evening. She later swam a 100 butterfly time trial in 1:00.17.

Freshman Zack Lee was the lone BU diver to compete on Saturday and he earned a season-best score of 287.15 on the the 3-meter.

Freshman Azariah Mamousette, sophomore Galen Carter, sophomore Derek Cheng and junior David Kohan each recorded two season bests. Mamousette posted a 49.84 in the 100 backstroke and a 45.76 in the 100 freestyle. Carter registered a 50.08 in the 100 backstroke and a 2:05.40 in the 200 breaststroke while Cheng put up times of 21.21 (50) and 46.12 (100) in the sprint freestyles. Kohan swam a 49.68 in the 100 butterfly and a 1:55.61 in the 200 butterfly.

Other season bests came were earned by freshman Andrew Ignatescu (200 free, 1:40.84),  junior Evan Liu (200 back, 1:55.38), and junior Jonathan Tsang (200 fly, 1:49.48).

BOSTON – Brown women’s swimming and diving (5-3, 3-3 Ivy) finished the 2025-26 season with four wins at the BU Winter Open on Feb. 6-7. Hosted by Boston University and the FitRec Competition Pool, Catherine Yu collected three individual event victories, and Amelia Hines won the 500 free.

Yu won the 200 IM (2:06.74), 100 breaststroke (1:03.71), and the 200 breaststroke (2:18.61), and Hines’ 4:59.85 mark in the 500 free was the top performance in the event.

The Bears will return to the Katherine Coleman Aquatics Center Feb. 18-21 to host the 2026 Ivy League Championship. All four days will be streamed on ESPN+.

BOSTON – The Brown men’s swim and dive team (2-6, 1-6 Ivy) collected seven event victories at the BU Winter Open at FitRec Competition Pool on Friday and Saturday. The 2025-26 regular season finale featured two individual event wins for Caden Blamer

Blamer secured the top marks in the 50 freestyle (20.58) and 100 backstroke (48.85), and was part of the 200 medley relay team (1:29.02) that won. Blamer was joined by Tucker PetersonConnor Wickerham, and Aaron Martin. Blamer also added a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and a third-place mark in the 200 backstroke. 

Peterson won the 100 butterfly (48.30) and placed third in the 50 free, 100 backstroke, and 100 freestyle. Along with the 200 medley relay win, he was a member of the 200 free relay team that won, joined by Martin, Rudd Day, and Wickerham. 

Martin won the 100 free, finishing in 44.74. Christopher Chang placed first in the 1650 free (16:16.81).

BOSTON, Mass. – The Yale women’s swimming and diving team concluded competition at the Boston Winter Invite on Saturday at Boston University’s FitRec Competition Pool.

Over the two-day meet, the Bulldogs notched several top-three finishes, highlighted by Lillian Teel’s victory in the 400-yard IM, Ellie Horning’s win in the 200-yard backstroke, and first-place performances by the 400-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard medley relay, and 400-yard medley relay teams.

The Results

  • 500-yard Freestyle: Lauren Putnam finished second with a time of 5:00.73.
  • 200-yard IM: Teel placed third with a time of 2:07.32.
  • 400-yard Freestyle Relay: The quartet of Ellie Horning, Putnam, Michelle Chen, and Violet Dorsey-Reyes won the event with a time of 3:33.24.
  • 100-yard Butterfly: Horning placed third in the event in a time of 56.25.
  • 400-yard IM: Teel won the event with a time of 4:30.90.
  • 200-yard Freestyle: Putnam finished third with a time of 1:53.75.
  • 100-yard Backstroke: Horning placed second in the event at 56.08.
  • 200-yard Medley Relay: The quartet of Chen, Teel, Horning, and Putnam won the event with a time of 1:48.46.
  • 200-yard Backstroke: Horning touched the wall first in a time of 2:00.74.
  • 200-yard Breaststroke: Teel finished third with a time of 2:22.68.
  • 400-yard Medley Relay: The quartet of Horning, Teel, Dorsey-Reyes, and Putnam won the event with a time of 3:53.94.

BOSTON, Mass. – The Yale men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the Boston Winter Invite on Saturday, held at Boston University’s FitRec Competition Pool.

The two-day meet saw the Bulldogs secure multiple top-three finishes, highlighted by several event victories: Henry Webb won both the 200-yard IM and 200-yard Freestyle, Aedan Conners took first in the 200-yard Backstroke, Jack Saber captured the 100-yard Breaststroke, and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team also claimed a win.

The Results

  • 500-yard FreestyleFinn Henry had a strong swim, finishing second with a time of 4:32.90.
  • 200-yard IM: Webb won the event in 1:48.04, while Christian Lee finished third in 1:51.09.
  • 200-yard Freestyle: Webb earned his second win of the meet with a time of 1:37.91.
  • 100-yard Breaststroke: Saber finished first in 54.79.
  • 200-yard Medley Relay: The quartet of Conners, Saber, Webb, and Henry placed second in 1:31.34.
  • 200-yard Backstroke: Conners won the event in a time of 1:47.84.
  • 100-yard Freestyle: Webb placed second with a time of 45.32.
  • 200-yard Breaststroke: Saber won the event with a time of 1:59.66.
  • 400-yard Medley Relay: The quartet of Conners, Saber, Webb, and Lee touched the wall first at 3:20.95.
  • 200-yard Freestyle Relay: The quartet of Webb, Henry, Hammer Massey, and Lee placed second with a time of 1:23.48.

BOSTON – The Colgate women’s swimming & diving team competed against a strong field of Division I and regional opponents at the Boston Winter Open, held Friday and Saturday at Boston University’s FitRec Pool.

Senior Reilly Brennan led the Raiders in the distance events, posting a time of 5:26.60 in the 500-yard freestyle and also competing in the 100-yard butterfly. Brennan’s 500 free marked a solid performance against a deep field featuring multiple Ivy League and New England programs.

In the sprint events, senior Alyssa Dennis represented Colgate in multiple races, finishing 31st in the 50-yard freestyle (26.74) and adding efforts in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.91) and 100-yard backstroke (1:05.20) over the course of the weekend. Fellow senior Erin Shea added depth for the Raiders in the 50-yard freestyle (26.80) and 100-yard backstroke (1:07.98).

First-year Jayne Mansukani continued to gain valuable experience at the collegiate level, competing in the 50-yard freestyle (27.21) and placing 13th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.96.

The two-day meet provided Colgate with a high-caliber racing environment as the team continued preparation for postseason competition. The Raiders faced swimmers from Yale, Brown, Columbia, Northeastern, Tufts, and other regional programs in one of the final multi-team meets of the regular season.

Tufts was there and held its own with some notable swims as well. This is always a critical meet for Tufts as it decides the last two spots on the championship teams going into NESCACs. I’m shortening it to the list of swimmers and divers that stood out, but every swimmer seemed to have season bests. As a washed up alum I hope every Jumbo swimmer and diver walks out of BU proud.
