Northern Colorado Closes Dual Season with Home Win Over Utah Tech

GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado swimming & diving capped the dual-meet season with a strong home performance Saturday morning, defeating Utah Tech 128.5-61.5 in the Bears’ final dual of the year at Butler-Hancock Pool.

The Bears set the tone early by winning the 200 medley relay, as the quartet of Martina Yuki TrionfettiMaria ErokhinaEllyson Lombardi, and Alexis Mishler touched first in 1:40.98.

Kyra Rabess delivered another standout distance performance, sweeping the freestyle events with victories in the 500 free (4:58.68) and the 200 free (1:50.63), while also contributing to a strong showing in the 400 free relay. Lombardi was dominant in the butterfly, winning both the 200 fly (2:00.70) and the 100 fly (55.16) to anchor the Bears’ sprint and stroke depth.

Erokhina added to the team total with a decisive win in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.57), while Mishler and Vitoria Simioni highlighted UNC’s sprint group in the 50 free and 100 free. The Bears also found key points in the backstroke and individual medley events, maintaining steady separation as the meet progressed.

Northern Colorado closed the day by placing both an “A” and “B” squad in the 400 free relay, sealing the team victory and putting an emphatic exclamation point on the final dual meet of the season.

UP NEXT: The Bears will head to Texas to compete in the MPSF Conference Championships Feb. 25-28.

Utah Tech combined for two event victories in the Trailblazers’ final dual meet of the 2025-26 season held at Northern Colorado on Saturday in Greeley.

Freshman Kate Reichner accounted for Utah Tech’s lone individual race win when she touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:11.63 to earn her first collegiate victory.

Then in the final race of the day, the 400 free relay, the team of Madeleine McGaughyReagan PattersonNia Turagavou and Natalia Zmierczak picked up a win with an altitude-adjusted time of 3:30.80.

Meanwhile Gabby Henry posted runner-up finishes in both the 50 free (24.15) and 100 butterfly (57.21 – altitude adjusted), and Jenna Tracy clocked the fifth-fastest 50 breaststroke time in program history with a 30.54.

Utah Tech will close out the 2025-26 regular season next Friday, Feb. 13, when the Trailblazers travel to Las Vegas to swim at the UNLV First Chance Invite.
