Shannon O’Malley
Shannon O’Malley is a senior breaststroke and IM specialist at the University of Georgia. Born April 25, 1993 O’Malley is from Marietta, Ga. where she attended Lassiter High School. O’Malley’s best events are the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and she has the eighth-fastest time in school history in the 200. The Advertising and Marketing major is a natural leader, being named a team captain and acts as a representative for swimming and diving on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. The O’Malley family is full of swimmers, Shannon’s younger sister just signed to swim with the US Naval Academy, and are UG Football fans.

University of Georgia
2011-2012
In her freshman year O’Malley finished eighth in the 100 breaststroke, 10th in the 200 breaststroke and 13th in the 200 IM at the SECs. She helped her team win their third consecutive SEC title. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke as well as the 200 IM.

2012-2013
O’Malley became an Honorable Mention All-American in the 200 medley relay after finishing 14th at the NCAA Championships. The Bulldogs won the national title in 2013. At the SEC Championships she finished 11th in the 200 breaststroke, 13th in the 100 breaststroke and 20th in the 200 IM. She was also named a First-Team Scholar All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

2013-2014
After qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM the Bulldogs won their second-straight national championship. O’Malley was selected as a Scholar All-American by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

2014-2015
The team captain has posted NCAA ‘B’ cuts.

National Competition
O’Malley qualified for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100m breaststroke. She also swam the 100m breaststroke in the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials finishing 99th and finished 85th in the 200m breaststroke. She’s qualified for the US Nationals four times in her main three events and the 400 IM.
