Jordan Mattheisen
On December 28th, 1994 Jordan Mattheisen was born in Renton, Washington to parents Nina Thornsburg and Mike Mattheisen. At the age of four, Jordan joined started swimming summer league with the Lakeridge Swim Club. Whether she was playing with friends, or practicing with her team Jordan spent endless hours at the pool over her summers throughout her childhood. She swam with the Lakeridge Swim Club every summer through her senior year of high school, qualifying for All City Championships several times. In addition, Jordan proudly still holds a record in the 8&Under 100 freestyle relay. Jordan attended high school at the Forest Ridge School in Bellevue, Washington where she also played soccer and lacrosse. Jordan joined the Renton High School swim team her junior year where she accomplished a great deal. When Jordan graduated in 2013 she moved across the country to attend Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. In the fall of 2013, Jordan began her career as a Simmons shark where she currently swims under coach Mindy Williams. Jordan specializes in breaststroke, but has also recently started competing in sprint and mid-distance freestyle. Jordan is known among her teammates for not only her sense or humor, but her undying love for the Seattle Seahawks.
Club
Jordan’s high school, Forest Ridge, did not have a swim program, therefore in her junior year she joined the Renton High School swim team. In her two years as a Renton Indian, Jordan earned Second Team Seamount League honors and competed at State Championships in the 500 freestyle, the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
College-Simmons College
2013-2015
When Jordan arrived at Simmons College in the fall of 2013, she had no intention of swimming in college. However, she attended the first team meeting and began practicing that September. Since then, Jordan has had a great deal of success as a shark. She scored at both the 2013 and 2014 GNAC Championships, in addition to qualifying and competing at the 2014 NEISDA Championships held at URI. She placed 17th in the 50 Breaststroke, 20th in the 100 Breaststroke and 18th in the 200 Breaststroke. Jordan has qualified and will compete again at the 2015 NEISDA Championships.
Personal
Jordan is a BioChemistry major with a math minor and she hopes to seek a career in medical research. In addition, Jordan coached the Lakeridge Swim Club in her home town last summer and plans to coach again this summer!
