Summer McIntosh swam to the #2 performance in the 400 free all-time with a 3:55.37 in her win tonight. That also broke Katie Ledecky‘s US Open Record of a 3:56.81 that Ledecky swam a the end of April at the Fort Lauderdale Pro Series stop. McIntosh also broke her own meet record from 2023 and was just over a second off her own World Record.

The biggest difference between McIntosh today and Ledecky back in April was on the first and last 100s. McIntosh was already half a second under Ledecky’s old record and also half a second under her own World Record at the 100 mark. She remained under Ledecky’s record the remainder of the race but fell off pace of her World Record half way through the race.

With her swim today, McIntosh now holds four of the six fastest performances all-time.
