The 2026 Singapore National Swimming Championships concluded tonight at the OCBC Aquatic Centre and Amanda Lim made sure it ended with a memorable performance.
Racing in the final of the women’s 50m freestyle, 33-year-old Lim busted out the best swim of her life, stopping the clock at a time of 24.77 to earn the gold.
She represented one of two women in the field to dip under the 25-second barrier en route to topping the podium.
Chiok Sze Yeo was next to the wall in a mark of 24.98, and Nathalie Ring rounded out the podium in 25.54.
As for Lim, her result handily erased her previous personal best of 24.94 logged in June of 2024.
It also knocked .15 off the longstanding Singaporean standard of 24.92 Quah Ting Wen put on the books during the 2019 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup season.
Lim ranks just outside the list of the 25 best performers in the world on the season.
While Lim has multiple relay records to her credit, this record represents her first-ever individual benchmark.
She is a 6-time Southeast Asian Championships gold medalist and 16-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist, including winning this women’s 50m free event remarkably on 7 occasions.

We are 9 months away from the beginning of the qualifying period for the 2028 Olympics, but she did go under the B cut so hopefully this motivates her to keep going and see if she can repeat or improve.
