The Orinda Moraga Swim Club is seeking a Head Coach for the 2025 Swim Season. OMSC is a public swim club in the Orinda Moraga Pool Association, OMPA. We look to provide an inclusive and fun environment where swimmers of all abilities can compete and improve their skills. As we start our inaugural season, we are looking for a leader to inspire and guide our swimmers, as well as our assistant coaches.
The Head Coach would be responsible for leading the team in all aspects. From mentorship of the Coaching Staff, to providing technical guidance to the swimmers, to developing practice plans, to leading us at our dual meets and invitationals throughout the summer.
OMSC will begin preseason around April 21st, 2025 and the summer meet schedule will kick off in late May with Time Trials. The season finale is the OMPA Invitational, competing with the 8 other teams from the OMPA league. Dual meets are typically Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the summer and we will hold practices weekdays in the late afternoon and early evening.
The ideal candidate will have a competitive swimming background as well as previous coaching experiences. They will be able to convey to swimmers proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and race strategy and etiquette. They will provide feedback and encouragement with an emphasis on growth and improvement. Our Coach will lead by example and instill in our swimmers a strong work ethic, focus on teamwork and sportsmanship, a desire to learn and improve, and most importantly having fun!
Position Responsibilities:
- Attend all swim meets, practices, and social events
- Develop practice plans for each age group and share plans to Assistant Coaches
- Serve as a leader/mentor to the Assistant Coaches
- Manage swim meet line-up/entries
- Partner with Meet Director on communicating with parent volunteers
- Provide feedback for swimmers during and after meets
- Offer private lessons to the swimmers throughout the season
Salary will depend on experience as well as availability for future Fall and Spring swim sessions.
