Women
BOSTON — The Boston University women’s swimming & diving team closed out the 18th annual Terrier Invite Sunday night at the FitRec Competition Pool, finishing second of six competing teams with 1,057.5 points.
Freshman Katie Pestrichelli touched the wall at 17:10.17 in the 1650-yard freestyle to kick off the night, finishing fifth in the finals.
Freshman Cambria Jewett was the top finisher for the Terriers in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing in 2:00.68 and taking third place to pick up 20 points for BU. Jewett’s preliminary time of 1:59.41 was the second-fastest mark in school history.
In the 200-yard butterfly, junior Haley Newman swam to a third-place finish with a time of 2:04.25 to pace BU.
The Terriers clocked a time of 3:28.18 in the 400 free relay to close out the weekend, as junior Stella Langenbach, senior Summer Brainin, senior Sasha Ramey and junior Janhvi Choudhary earned 40 points for BU.
Northeastern University won the meet for the second straight year, finishing with 1,435 points. Following the Terriers were UMass (1,040.5 points), Boston College (1,014 points), Fairfield (853 points) and Bryant (35 points), who only brought divers. This was the second straight year where the Terriers finished second at the meet.
This was the last meet of the semester for the Terriers, who return to the pool Friday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at MIT in Cambridge.
Men
BOSTON — Highlighted by sophomore Jonny Farber’s backstroke sweep completion, the Boston University men’s swimming & diving team finished up at the 18th annual Terrier Invite Sunday evening, taking second of six teams at the FitRec competition pool with 1,237.5 points.
Farber finished the 200-yard backstroke in 1:46.34, coming from behind to win the event for the Terriers after winning the 100 back the night before.
The Terriers had three swimmers place in the top six of the 1650 free, with freshman Giovanni Sullo taking second (15:28.98), freshman Charles Schreiner finishing third (15:35.11) and senior Dolan Grisbaum finishing sixth (15:59.18).
Sullo’s time is good for third all-time at BU and Schreiner’s mark is fifth all-time in the event. On top of the mile times, Sullo’s (9:23.56) and Schreiner’s (9:22.38) 1,000-yard splits marked the fifth- and fourth-best 1,000 free times in program history.
Freshman Diego Rosario competed in the B final of the 200 butterfly, but his performance to win the final (1:50.45) was the 10th-best in program history and would have been the fourth-best time in the A final.
In the 400 free relay, the men’s A squad finished third, as freshman Derek Cheng, freshman Charlie Nenchev, Farber and senior Pierre Bressan finished in 3:02.27.
The Boston College men won the meet in their first appearance at the Terrier Invite since 2022, racking up 1,685.5 points. Following the Terriers were Fairfield (930 points), UMass (840 points), NJIT (766 points) and Bryant (46 points), who brought just its diving squad.
This was the last meet of the semester for the Terriers, who return to the pool Friday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. at MIT in Cambridge.
Fairfield University – Recap
BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams completed their three-day stay at the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University this evening. The men’s team finished third out of six teams, posting 930 team points. The women’s team secured fifth place by tallying 853 points over the three days.
Erin Hoyland opened the final session by placing third in the 1650 free, completing the course in 16:53.31 Ella Lepis also competed and brought home 7th place by timing out in 17:35.52. Joseph Stewart was the top finisher for the men in the event, touching the wall in 15:59.83.
The 200 back was next up on the docket and both teams put swimmers in the top 10. Erini Pappas registered a fourth-place swim in 2:01.40 followed by Lauren Patalano in ninth place with her time of 2:04.72. Aidan Schnapf (1:48.06) and Jack Behm (1:49.98) garnered sixth and seventh place, respectively for the men’s team.
In the 100 free, Olivia Thompson completed the event in 52.61 which brought her 10th place overall. Joseph Stewart and Cormac Rouse collected sixth and eighth place respectively with times of 45.69 and 46.43.
The women’s team garnered three placements in the 200 breaststroke with Alison Sposili taking fifth (2:20.52), Tone Sandsjoe picking up sixth (2:21.36), and Cailey Stockwell collecting seventh (2:21.74). Jeffrey Vlass (2:03.92) and Enrique Garcia (2:05.71) represented the Stags in this event which ended with seventh and eighth places.
The final individual event was the 200 butterfly with Callie Gray serving as the top finisher by taking fifth in the B final behind a time of 2:08.84. Tim Regan (1:52.22), Ed Hunt (152.23), and Ryan Woodzell (1:56.00) recorded eighth, ninth, and 10th places to close out the night.
In the 400 free relay, the women finished seventh in 3:38.91 behind the efforts of Oliva Thompson, Holly Rahurahu, Erini Pappas, and Sydney Scalise. The men garnered fourth in 3:02.27 with Tim Regan, Aidan Schnapf, Nicholas Besgen, and Joseph Stewart comprising the relay team.
The Stags will return to competition in the new year when they travel to Binghamton University for a dual meet on January 11.
NJIT – Recap
BOSTON – Borys Endle set his own school record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:58.46 to win the event on the final day of the BU Terrier Invitational on Sunday at the FitRec Competition Pool. His time in the 200 breaststroke is the fastest in the America East. Endle broke his second school record of the meet, setting the 400 IM program record on Saturday.
The Highlanders had 25 entries in Sunday’s finals, but NJIT finished the meet with 766 points, placing fifth. Boston College won the meet with 1,685.5 points, followed by Boston (1,237.5), Fairfield (930), and UMass (840).
Sam Deemer finished second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:47.36, the fastest time in the America East.
Tanish Chhabra recorded a 100 freestyle time of 45.23 to finish third, the fastest time in the America East.
Pawel Drzymala posted a 200 butterfly time of 1:51.08 to finish fifth, which ranks third in the America East.
Matthew Piacentini, Chhabra, Vincent Coppola, and Zac Kuzak recorded a 400 freestyle relay time of 3:03.35 to finish fifth, which ranks second in the America East.

The Highlanders will not compete again until 2025, when they host Seton Hall on Jan. 17 at 4:00 p.m. at the BWEC.
Northeastern – Recap
BOSTON, Mass. — Led by another individual victory for sophomore May Bradburn and a team win in the 400 Relay Free, the Northeastern Huskies swim and dive team won its second straight Terrier Invitational, earning a total of 1,435 points over the three-day event. The Huskies beat out hosts Boston University, Boston College, UMass, Fairfield, and Bryant.
Senior Erin Murphy swept the 1M Dive and 3M Dive for the second straight year, while Bradburn championed 100 Free, 100 Fly, and 50 Free. Northeastern also won every single team relay event over the weekend.
SUNDAY
- Graduate student Emily Gjertsen kicked off the third day of competition by setting a new school record in the 1650 Free, recording a time of 16:44.67 to beat the previous record by nearly 10 seconds and earn second place.
- Next was the 200 Back, where junior Anna Verlander finished second after touching the wall at 1:58.97. Junior Teagan Osga came in fifth with a 2:02.05 mark.
- The Huskies filled the leaderboard in the 100 Free A Final as Bradburn marked the weekend with her third individual win, touching the wall at 49.89 for a new personal best this season. Graduate student Caroline Mahoney was next to finish, taking third after swimming a 50.69. Junior Kotoko Blair (51.34), senior captain Hannah Seward (51.71), and sophomore Mary Nordmann (52.20) rounded out the A Final by finishing fifth, sixth and seventh. Seward’s time was a new personal best.
- Senior Stella Urness outswam last year’s attempt in the 200 Breast at the FitRec Competition Pool, as she earned fifth with a time of 2:20.47.
- Seward added another personal best in the 200 Fly A Final, taking fourth place with a 2:04.35 mark, while senior Francesca Acriniegas (2:06.35) and freshman Kate Kerber (2:06.79) took sixth and seventh in the event.
- Northeastern ended the three-day meet with a win in the 400-meter Free Relay. The A-Team of Mahoney, Blair, senior Emily Cooley, and Bradburn championed the event, touching the wall at 3:23.68 and beating the next closest team by nearly three seconds.
SATURDAY
- Murphy completed the weekend sweep for the second straight year at the Terrier Invitational, scoring a 272.30 to win the 1M Dive. She edged out second place by 2.95 points with the help of her final dive of the event.
- The swimming finals started with another Northeastern victory, as the A-Team of freshman Delaney Alonso, junior Elisabeth Bendall, Bradburn, and graduate student Caroline Mahoney touched the at 1:41.76 to get things rolling.
- Senior captain Devon Muldoon claimed fifth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.03, while senior Francesca Acriniegas followed close behind, setting a 4:29.81 mark to finish eighth.
- The Huskies added to their win total with Bradburn and senior captain Hannah Seward sweeping the top two spots in the 100 Fly A Final. Bradburn earned her second individual victory of the weekend by touching the wall at 53.63, edging Seward (53.77) by .14 seconds. Sophomore Mary Nordmann recorded a win in the B Final, setting a time of 56.67.
- Graduate student Emily Gjertsen was the top finisher for Northeastern in the 200 Free, earning second at 1:50.98, while senior Emily Cooley took fifth with a 1:53.95 mark.
- Bendall (1:04.30) and senior Stella Urness (1:04.69) earned fourth and fifth in the A Final of the 100 Breast, respectively. Sophomore Joyce Wu also celebrated her 20th birthday with a win in the B Final of the 100 Breast, touching the wall at 1:05.10 and setting the seventh-fastest time of any swimmer in the event.
- Senior Kate Cosgrove claimed second in the A Final of the 100 Back, finishing at 55.99. Junior Teagan Osga recorded a time of 56.59 to win the 100 Back B Final.
- Northeastern closed out the second day of competition with its second team win, as the A-Team of Seward, Cooley, Gjertsen, and Bradburn finished first in the 800 Free with a 7:26.72, only five seconds short of the pool record.
FRIDAY
- Murphy collected the first individual win of the weekend for Northeastern, scoring a 282.40 in the 3-meter dive. It is the fourth time she has championed the event this season. Freshman Madeleine Wong also impressed, reaching the final in her first showing at the Terrier Invitational. She finished in sixth, posting a score of 224.70.
- Back in the lanes, The Huskies A-Team, including graduate student Caroline Mahoney, junior Kotoko Blair, sophomore Mary Nordmann, and Bradburn won the 200 Free Relay, touching the wall at 1:32.41 to kick off the finals.
- Graduate student Emily Gjertsen finished second in the 500 Yard Free, swimming a time of 4:53.03, beating her best time this season by 10 seconds. Sophomore Bella Busconi also swam well in the A-Final, earning sixth with a time of 5:01.70.
- Senior captain Hannah Seward took second place in the A-Final of the 200 IM, touching the wall at 2:04.29, her fastest attempt this season. Senior Stella Urness came in sixth of the A-Final at 2:06.40
- The Huskies showed their speed in the 50 Free, sweeping the top four places in the event. Bradburn picked up her first individual win of the invite, touching the wall at 22.92. Mahoney finished .37 seconds behind to take second, while Nordmann (23.49) and Blair (23.57) grabbed third and fourth, respectively.
- Northeastern concluded the first day of competition with another team victory, this time in the 400 Yard Medley Relay. Led by junior Anna Verlander, junior Elisabeth Bendall, Bradburn, and Mahoney, the A-Team finished first with a time of 3:42.75 and extended the Huskies’ lead to over 100 points.
After the Huskies’ second straight win of the season and at the Terrier Invitational, they round out their final meet in 2024 with a trip to the University of New Hampshire on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 12 p.m. The meet will be available to stream on America East TV.
UMASS – Recap
AMHERST, Mass. – University of Massachusetts swimming and diving wrapped up competition at the Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on Sunday at the BU Fitness and Recreation Center. The Minutewomen finished in third (1,040.5) and the Minutemen placed fourth (840).
Massachusetts swim and dive saw four all-time records on the final day of action at the Terrier Invite.
Freshman Maria Grishaeva recorded the ninth best all-time mark in the 200 backstroke during the preliminary events (2:03.56), before beating her own record in the finals with a time of 2:02.99. Grishaeva also notched a program’s all-time record time in the 200 breaststroke preliminaries with a personal-best time of 2:19.16.
For the Minutemen, freshman Nate Derby placed his name on the 200 breaststroke all-time record with a personal best time of 2:01.73, while sophomore Aydin Erkan etched his name in the 200 butterfly all-time list with the sixth best time of 2:01.73.
Women’s Swimming & Diving
Junior Lexi Alexen swam a season-best time of 17:37.90 in the 1650 freestyle to place eighth, followed by junior Molly Nelson in ninth with a personal-best time of 17:47.06 and sophomore Sophie Porter in 10th with a season-best time of 17:50.05.
Grishaeva took seventh with her personal-best time of 2:02.99 in the 200 backstroke, as freshman Karinne Everly swam a personal-best time of 52.35 in the 100 freestyle for eighth place.
Sophomore Lindsay Burbage posted a season-best time of 2:19.19 in the 200 breaststroke to grab the silver medal, while Grishaeva picked up the bronze medal with a time of 2:19.47 in the event.
The 400 freestyle relay team of freshmen Hannah Schoenauer and Courtney Tedesco, Everly and Lahmann placed fourth with a time of 3:29.41.
Men’s Swimming & Diving
Sophomore Jude Boukarroum finished 12th in the 1650 freestyle with a season-best time of 16:26.12 with fellow classmate Cole Brooks placing 17th with a personal-best time of 16:53.88.
Freshmen Chase Keeler (1:49.11) and Zach Szabo (1:50.86) recorded personal-best times in the 200 backstroke to take fifth and 11th, respectively. Junior Sammy Quigg collected the gold medal in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 44.64, as sophomore Alonso Montori swam into 11th in the event with a season-best time of 46.16.
The 200 breaststroke saw Derby place 11th with a personal-best time of 2:01.73, marking the program’s fifth best mark of all-time. Erkan secured the bronze medal in the 200 butterfly with a personal-best time of 1:49.20, which was good for the sixth all-time mark in the UMass record books.
In the relays, junior Aidan Shepston, graduate student Juan Montori, Alonso Montori and Quigg combined for a time of 3:01.26 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Boston College – Recap
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving team competed at the Terrier Invite on the campus of Boston University over the span of Nov. 22-24. The Men’s team earned a victory, while the Women’s team finished fourth overall.
The Men’s Swimming & Diving team earned a victory on Sunday, compiling a total of 1685.5 points throughout the three-day invite. The Women’s Swimming & Diving team finished in fourth place, with a total of 1014 points. Northeastern took home the team win on the Women’s side with 1435 points.
The Eagles broke five school records, while also earning 38 total personal-best times throughout the weekend. Seven Individuals also earned a spot to race in the U.S. Open meet on Dec. 6-8 in Greensboro, N.C.

- Samantha Smith broke her second school record of the weekend during prelims on Sunday, earning the top spot in program history for the Women’s 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:00.42
- Jack Doyle earned a school, pool, and meet record for his time of 1:45.15 in the Men’s 200 butterfly
