Some of the top swimmers have traveled to Florida for Sectionals in Ocala. Night one featured the 800 frees, 50s of stroke, and the 800 free relay.
Highlighting the night was 15 year old Mai Perez who swam to a win with a 8:56.55 800 free. That marked another lifetime best as her previous best was a 9:05.73 that she swam a month ago at the Fort Lauderdale Open. She has dropped 12 seconds this season already as her lifetime best coming into the season was a 9:08.20.
Fellow 15 year old Jianna Amores won the 50 fly in a 26.94 to win by over a second. That dropped a tenth from her previous best 27.06 from February. Earning the touch in the 50 back was Delfina Suarez who earned the touch with a 30.02.
Florida Gulf Coast University’s Cassie Bauer earned the win in the 50 breast with a 33.60. Her lifetime best is a 32.10 that she swam in prelims for 15th at the US Open in December 2025. Planet Swim Aquatics ‘B’ relay won the 800 free relay with a 8:41.20 and Jenna Frost anchored with the fastest split of a 2:07.14.
The boys side was led by 16 year old Cobe Hehenberger as he swam to a win in the boys 800 free with a 8:11.82. That was a lifetime best by over five seconds as his previous best was a 8:16.92 from August at Summer Juniors.
Florida State University swimmer and NCAA qualifier Logan Robinson won the 50 fly in a 24.44. That was only a tenth off his lifetime best that he swam at Futures in Ocala last July. Robinson was 5th in the 200 fly at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
Florida State teammate Andrew Rich won the 50 back in a 26.23, just off his best of a 26.02 from Sectionals in Ocala a year ago. Rich swam on FSU’s 800 free relay at 2026 NCAAs.
Argentina’s Matias Sosa Gonzalez won the 50 breast in a 29.43. He was 2nd last year in a 28.94. Closing the night with a win was South Florida Aquatic Club’s 800 free relay as Juan Vallmitjana, Guillermo Mantilla, Felipe Alvarez, and Ethan Hall swam to a 8:51.36.
