Thomas Heilman 200 Fly Press Conference, Youngest Male Olympic Swimmer Since Michael Phelps

2024 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS

17-year-old Thomas Heilman punched his ticket to Paris tonight, winning the 200 fly in 1:54.50. Heilman was on the world championships team last year at age 16 and brings a wealth of international racing experience to his first Olympics even though he is still just a teenager.

Well, Heilman didn’t have to worry about paying the mortgage or rent older swimmers are now balancing between work and swimming. Heilman is younger than Whitlock. So he is also the youngest since Phelps.

Yeah so Heilman was born on Feb 7, 2007. Luke Whitlock was born Mar 8, 2006. Sometimes age calculations are complicated, but in this case we can simply note that because 2006 is smaller than 2007 that Whitlock must therefore be older than Heilman.
