Regan has quickly come to be my favorite female swimmer. Watching her develop mentally and physically at ASU was a pleasure. Seeing her break records in the middle of a normal ASU dual meet as a pro was unbelievable. Seems like such a nice person, as her ASU teammates would attest to. Sad she left for TX, as we’ll miss her…

LOVE that reaction, so pure and honest!

She nailed it with the fingernails. You don’t imagine the difference it makes in your races for women, its like having fins in your hands.

I cannot appreciate more how candid Regan is here.

Most of these press conferences are at best derp-y bros saying nothing in particular (“just tried to get my hand on the wall”) or at worst shellacked with the veneer of USA-S media training.

It’s not just about the f-bomb (although I do love that more of our women swimmers are busting out of the tired, demure corner some seem to still want them in).

It’s that most swimmers tell the media what they think the media wants to hear, and Regan just spoke what *she* want’s the media to hear.

More like this, please.

Apologies for the punctuation error in the penultimate sentence. Just like Regan’s swim, while the above is an excellent SwimSwam comment, there is always room to improve the little details.

The juxtaposition of cool analysis and then the matter-of-fact f’bomb is as the young ones’ say, iconic.

Regan Smith is probably my fave US swimmer at the moment – in that she’s an impressive athlete and I’d like to see her do well.
Actually smiled at her celebration.
Sucks that in two of her best events she’s up against one of my fave Aussie swimmers.

So impressed – not only by the WR but how beautifully and honestly she expressed herself. ❤️

Regan is a monster. USA’s MVP in Paris.

she really will have a decent chance at being MVP – individually, 2 gold / 1 silver is very much possible. Peak Dressel ofc could do that but I think it’s too early/unknown to actually predict that, Douglass theoretically could but I think it’s pretty unlikely, and Ledecky has a shot if someone flubs the 400 free

Assuming get gets second to summer in the 200 fly?? I’m not so sure about that but I guess this week will tell

no specific events esp since the 200 back/fly haven’t happened yet, but my guess would be gold in the 200 fly and one of the backstroke events if she does get 2 golds, based off her 200 fly last year and her new 100 fly PB. Summer has a bigger load before the race too

Súper cool that Emily Klueh (Brunenann) is her sports psych! I believe she has a role in USA Swimming now? Go Blue !
