Tonight in the finals of the 200 free relay, Florida’s Josh Liendo, Adam Chaney, Eric Friese, and Macguire McDuff smashed the NCAA and US Open record by nearly a second in a time of 1:13.35. In this article, we take a look at some of the splits across the field for this event.
Leadoffs
Josh Liendo had the fastest leadoff time at 18.22, which is 0.18 seconds faster than his time of 18.40 which finished second in the individual race. In addition, Liendo’s time would have also beaten Jordan Crooks‘ 18.32 that won the NCAA title. Crooks was the second-fastest leadoff swimmer at 18.44, while Bjorn Seeliger clocked a 18.59 for third and Youssef Ramadan went 18.68 for fourth. Seeliger’s swim was 0.08 seconds faster than his individual swim, while Ramadan’s was 0.14 seconds faster.
