16-Year-Old Pudar Logs 2:07.58 Bosnia & Herzegovinia 200 Fly Record

2022 FINA WORLD AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

The women’s 200m fly saw Canada’s 15-year-old phenom Summer McIntosh clock a new World Junior Record (2:05.79) en route to grabbing the top seed out of the women’s semi-finals here in Budapest.

However, another teenager made some major waves in the event as well, with 16-year-old Lana Pudar putting up a new Bosnian & Herzegovinian national record to make it into tomorrow night’s final.

Pudar earned a time of 2:07.58 to grab the 4th seed tonight, a monster lifetime best for the 2021 European Junior Championships silver medalist.

Opening in 1:01.52 and bringing it home in 1:06.06, Pudar hacked nearly 2 solid seconds off of her previous personal best and national record. That prior time sat at the 2:09.59 she produced in Rome last year, which included spits of 1:01.62/1:07.97.

To put Pudar’s time tonight into perspective, the BIH swimmer’s 2:07.58 would rank her as the 4th fastest American 15-16-year-old of all time.

Pudar already raced the women’s 100m fly here in Budapest, finishing in 8th place with a time of 58.44.
