Boise’s Nathan Quarterman set 2 individual State Meet Records as the Boise High School boys and girls took home the IDHSAA 5A titles. Quarterman knocked a second off his own record in the 200 free, winning in 1:41.69. He also took down his own former record in the 100 back, posting a 49.05 to win by over 6 seconds.

Also setting multiple individual State Meet Records was Capital’s Paul Shutt. Though Shutt set the State Meet Record in the 200 IM last year, he opted out of that race this time around. He took a second off his own 100 free record with a 46.51. Shutt then battled with Timberline’s Max Wolf in the 100 breast, with both finishing under the old record. Shutt got out to the early lead and held off Wolf 1:00.44 to 1:00.52.

Centennial’s Josh Sutton and Borah’s Ruby Howell each won a pair of events, setting State Meet Records in one of their respective races. Howell blew away the record with a 2:04.17 in the 200 IM before capturing the 100 free title in 52.18. Sutton’s record came in the 50 free, where he posted a 21.41. He also won the 100 fly in 51.32.

Also setting individual State Meet Records were Timberline’s Jon Sutherlin and Jillian Moses. In the 500 free, Sutherlin knocked over 3 seconds off his former record with a 4:42.17. Moses broke her own record in the 100 breast. She was neck-and-neck with Borah’s Jessica Kraus at the 50-mark, but pulled ahead to win it in 1:05.85. Kraus (1:06.14) was also under the former record.
