Taira Juronis of Schaumburg, Illinois has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Illinois-Chicago as a member of the class of 2024. Juronis competes year round with Academy Bullets Swim Club.

A breaststroke specialist, this summer Juronis competed at the Illinois Swimming Senior Long Course Championships, qualifying for finals in the 100 breast (1:17.72). At the 2019 NCSA Spring Championships she competed in the 100 breast (1:04.72) and the 200 breast (2:20.00).

Juronis will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact after arriving on campus next fall. At the 2019 Horizon League Championships her best times would have qualified for the A-final of the 200 breast, 200 IM, and 400 IM, as well as the B-final of the 100 breast. She will be joining a breaststroke group led by current freshman Poleena Kovalaske and sophomore Rebecca Ballo.
