The St. Olaf men and women took down the University of St. Thomas this weekend. The men won 153-145, while the women powered to a 153-146 decision.
St. Olaf:
The St. Olaf College Men & Women (Northfield, MN) won both dual meets over the University of St. Thomas.
The Ole men won 153-145 and 9 of the 15 events over the defending MIAC Champions including titles by first-year Abe Casey (Iowa City, IA) in the 100 & 200 Backstrokes. Junior Nick Wilkerson won the 100 & 200 Breaststrokes, Junior Andrew France won the 50 free, first-year Jack Welsh won the 100 Fly, and Senior diver Scott Hodgson won the 1 meter diving. Casey, Wilkerson, Junior Nathan France, and Andrew France combined to win the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:36.60.
The Ole women won 153-146 and 10 of the 16 events including titles from Senior Maddie Lee in the 200 free and 200 IM, Junior Claire Walters in the 100 and 200 fly, Senior Abbey Schnaith in the 50 free and 200 backstroke, Senior Megan Gaylord in the 100 breaststroke, and Junior Courtney Miller in 1 meter diving.
The Oles are back in action Friday evening against Gustavus Adolphus College.
St. Thomas:
Tommie Swimming and Diving had its second dual meet in less than 24 hours and lost by close margins to St. Olaf in men’s and women’s competition.
The Ole men won nine of 16 events and topped UST 153-145.
The St. Olaf women won 10 of 16 events and edged the Tommies 153-146.
The Tommies topped Carleton in Friday night dual meets.
UST women’s winners were:
- Mira Schroeder in the 1650 free (18:40.41);
- Emma Paulson in the 200 back (57:38) and 100 free (52.68);
- Liz Falconer in the 200 breast (2:33.17);
- Nicole Herrli in the 500 free (5:18.92);
- Casey Nightingale in one-meter diving (162.25)
- the 200 free relay team of Claire Larson, Paulson, Tiana Molitor and Courtney Grunewald (1:40.72);
UST men’s winners were:
- the 200 free relay team of Mike Lanz, Tom Laroccca, Bailey Biwer and Luke Schneeman (1:26.58);
- Biwer in the 200 IM (2:00.35);
- Lanz in the 100 free (47:36);
- Chris Tri in the 200 fly (2:00.07) and 1650 free (17:17.63);
- Warren Melton in the 200 free (1:45.64);
- Andrew Grabowski in one-meter diving (297.15).
