George Washington Swimming Coach Dan Rhinehart Will Not Return to the Program

March 2, 2015WASHINGTON, DC – The George Washington University Department of Athletics and Recreation announced today that Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach Dan Rhinehart will not return to the program.”We want to thank Dan for his service to GW Athletics since 1995 when he first came to GW as an assistant coach on our swimming teams,” said Director of Athletics and Recreation Patrick Nero. “In 17 years as head coach of both the men’s and women’s programs, Dan guided some outstanding student-athletes, and we wish him the best as we look forward to the future for GW swimming and diving.”Most recently at the 2015 A-10 Championships, GW’s men’s team finished in 7th while the women’s team placed 11th. Throughout his tenure, Rhinehart coached three student-athletes who went on to compete in the NCAA Championships, and was named the 2010-11 Co-Atlantic 10 Men’s Swimming Coach of the Year.

GW Athletics will undergo a national search for a new head coach.
