2017 Arena PSS- Mesa: Ous Mellouli, Haley Anderson Scratch 1500/800

2017 ARENA PRO SWIM SERIES – MESA

Three-time Olympic medalist Ous Mellouli of Tunisia has scratched out of the men’s 1500 freestyle tonight, and 2012 Olympic silver medalist in the 10k open water Haley Anderson scratched the women’s 800. 2016 Bahamian Olympian Joanna Evans of Texas also dropped the women’s 800.

Mellouli came in with the top time of the psych sheet, a 15:07.78. With Mellouli out of the race, Louisville’s Marcelo Acosta, Taylor Abbott, Aaron Appel, Chris Yeager of Nitro, Marc Hinawi, Aidan Burns, Eric Knowles, and Wiktor Jaszcak will make up the top heat of the men’s 1500 tonight.

Anderson was seeded fourth with 8:29.32, and Evans was fifth with 8:32.19. The top heat of the women’s 800 tonight will be Stanford’s Katie LedeckyVirginia’s Leah SmithVien Nguyen of Vietnam, Michigan commit Sierra SchmidtShae Nicolaisen, Taylor Ault, McKenzee Gordon, and Hayley McIntosh.

Anderson made the final of the 200 fly this morning, but she scratched, so she is out for all of tonight’s session.

Ous didn’t swim the whole weekend so not headline worthy
