After just 4 months in the role of Georgia Swimming’s Executive Director, Patrick J. “P.J.” Keller’s employment has been terminated. Per a Georgia Swimming press release, Keller’s dismissal was effective April 18, 2015 and the action taken was “based upon information discovered by the Board of Directors that Mr. Keller concealed facts and falsified information concerning his employment qualifications.”
Keller was hired by Georgia Swimming in December 2014, and, according to the USA Swimming press release at the time, had previously spent 20 years on the pool deck as a coach in several different capacities. The release had listed credentials including Keller serving as Age Group Performance 1 Coach and Head Masters Coach for Tampa Bay Aquatics in Tampa, FL, as well as primary Assistant Coach for the Tampa Prep School’s Varsity Swimming and Diving programs. Serving as Age Group Chairman and the Technical Planning Chairman of Louisiana LSC were also listed in his pre-Georgia Swimming roles.
The specific disputed details that led to Keller’s termination are not yet available.
hmmm I wonder what went on there?
Sounds like a background check was not done prior to his hire and someone who knew better alerted the Georgia LSC Board!
