Wisconsin Sprinter Ryan Linnihan Verbally Commits to Harvard

Ryan Linnihan of Brookfield, Wisconsin has announced his verbal commitment to the application process at Harvard University.* He will join Jake Johnson, Simon Lamar, and Umitcan Gures who have also indicated their commitment to the class of 2022.

Linnihan is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from Brookfield Central High School and Elmbrook Swim Club. He won the Wisconsin state title in the 50 free at the 2017 WIAA Boys Division 1 State Meet in February, going 20.99 for the only sub-21 in the field. He also finished fourth in the 100 free (46.38) and anchored Brookfield Central’s 4×50 free (he split 20.99) and 4×100 free (he split 46.67) relays, both of which placed sixth.

Linnihan’s best short-course times come from the 2017 NCSA Spring Championship. There he competed in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free, and 50 fly, earning PBs in all four and making the B final of the 50 free and the C final of the 100 free. At this summer’s Speedo Junior Nationals, Linnihan placed 19th in the 50m free with a personal-best 23.77. He also went best times in the 100 free (52.86) and 200 free (1:58.36).
