Lifelong swimmer Christine Beldon, a club swimmer at the University of Georgia, put together a documentary of UGA swimming’s power triplets Jay Litherland, Kevin Litherland, and Mick Litherland. Check out the video below.
Beldon’s Artist Notes:
“Because I am a life long swimmer, I have always taken an extra interest in watching the sport, especially during the Olympics. As a club swimmer at UGA, I also often attended several of the of our team’s varsity meets. I knew the names of several well-known swimmers and admired their talent in the sport. This past summer, at the Rio Summer Olympics, I distinctly remember when two UGA swimmers earned their spot in the games for the first time during trials in the same race. One of the swimmers, Jay Litherland, a triplet, swam with his brothers, Kevin and Mick, on the UGA team. My interest in the sport and the story of the brothers inspired me to focus my short documentary on their life growing up swimming together.”
All 3 swimmers have a long list of accomplishments during their NCAA careers. One of the triplets, Jay, was a member of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team. The brothers will swim their senior season with the Bulldogs in 2017-18. Mick has been a finalist the last 2 years at the SEC Championships, and Kevin was a medalist and NCAA qualifier in the 500 free in 2016-17.
