Van der Burgh, Sakai Battling For World Cup’s 2nd Cluster Points Lead

The race for the World Cup’s second cluster points win (and the $50,000 bonus that comes along with it) is coming down to the wire on the men’s side, with Cameron van der Burgh and Masato Sakai going back and forth in Beijing.

Sakai outdid van der Burgh in terms of medals in Beijing, earning 3 golds while van der Burgh took 2 gold and a silver. But the South African breaststroker van der Burgh managed to maintain his points lead by taking home the 24-point top performance bonus for his 50 breaststroke.

Van der Burgh leads the series points by over 100, and leads the cluster points 105-87 over Sakai.

On the women’s side, Katinka Hosszu continues to lead handily with 357 points.
