U.S. Paralympic Trials Day 3: Finals Recap

Tonight marked the end of the 2016 U.S. Paralympic Trials, and it was definitely one for the books.

In this morning’s preliminary session Zach Shattuck broke the men’s S6 class 100 freestyle American record with a time of 1:13.73. He did not perform as well in this evening’s finals sessions, but still managed to place first in his class.

Michelle Konkoly achieved yet another record this morning. Her time of 1:02.00 in the women’s S9 class 100 m Freestyle broke the American Record. In the finals session she cut another .75 seconds off of her morning swim and now she is only .12 seconds away from achieving yet another World Record.

Sophia Herzog had an amazing performance in the SM6 class women’s 200 IM— she cut nearly 12 seconds off of her preliminary time moving her up from 18th to 6th in the world rankings.

In the men’s S6 class 100 m freestyle, Bradley Snyder came within a second of breaking the World Record, and he isn’t even shaven. Robert Griswold broke his own American record in the men’s S8 class 100 m backstroke.
