Luka Mijatovic Swims Seven PBs at Super league LCM Champs In Novato

The Super League Long Course Championships were headlined by some of the United States’ top swimming stars, notably Olympic Champion Torri Huske and National Age Group sensation and SCY American Record Holder Luka Mijatovic.

Mijatovic was undeniably one of the biggest names on the men’s side. Swimming a much different event lineup than we are used to seeing; one that saw some sprint free and individual back, breast, and fly events.

Mijatovic made the most of the varied lineup, swimming seven lifetime bests. Though we have become accustomed to Mijatovic in some of the longer distance free and IM events, the 17-year-old Texas commit notched career bests in the 100 free (49.80), 50 back (27.62), 100 back (57.84), 50 breast (30.87), 100 breast (1:05.47), 200 fly (1:58.96), and the 200 IM (2:00.73).

Huske was a three-time winner in Novato, reaching the final wall first in the 50 free (25.07), 50 fly (26.85), and the 200 IM (2:12.84). This meet marks her first swims since the Pro Swim Series in Indianapolis in June, where she was 24.27 in the 50 free, 26.84 in the 50 fly, and touched in 2:09.59 in the 200 IM. That 200 IM time ranks her as the 12th fastest performer in the world this season.

Lucy Thomas, a fellow Stanford swimmer, only raced a pair of events. However, she made them count, winning the 50 breast in 31.61 (after touching in a season best in the prelims in 30.95), and clocking a pair of career bests in both the prelims and the finals of the 50 fly, touching in 28.50 in the heats, before taking another two tenths off of that newly minted best in 28.29.

DART Swimming’s Lauren Lonsdale also found herself swimming several personal bests in Novato, clocking her fastest ever times in the 50 back (30.14), 100 back (1:01.64), and 100 fly (1:03.03). Similar to Thomas, Lonsdale notched best times in both the prelims and finals of both the 100 back and 100 fly, clocking a prelims 100 back time of 1:02.15 and a 100 fly performance of 1:03.66.
