Last Friday & Saturday three schools in the Big 12 raced in the pool. Here’s a quick recap of the meets.

TCU vs. San Diego State – Women Only

In a bit of a non-traditional meet format, TCU hosted San Diego State last Friday. Instead of the 1000 freestyle, they swam the 400IM, 100s of stroke as 50s and the 200s of stroke as 100s. In the end, San Diego State went home victorious with 156-138.

Mikaela Macklin of SDSU swam a 4:23.80 400 IM to win. She had the fastest 200 IM time (exhibition point) of 2:04.40.

Her teammate Frida Berggren finished in 1:52.80 for the 200 freestyle.

Anika Apostalon was 26.29 in the 50 backstroke for another victory for San Diego. She also won the 100 backstroke in 56.09.

In the 50 breaststroke, Gabrijela Korac was 30.49 for the first victory for TCU. Close behind was Jordy Hanna from SDSU in 30.85.

Loreen Whitfield was 55.89 in the 100 butterfly, 24.94 in the 50 butterfly and Maddy Dalcamo was 23.94 in the 50 freestyle for more San Diego victories.

Iowa State at Nebraska Omaha

Iowa State traveled to Nebraska Omaha for a pentathlon duel meet last weekend. The meet line up included: 200 MD-R, 100 Butterfly, 100 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Freestyle, 200 IM and the 200 FR-R.

Iowa State was victorious over Nebraska Omaha, 123-63.

Kansas vs. Nebraska Omaha & North Dakota – Women Only

Full Results Here. 

Kansas hosted Nebraska Omaha & North Dakota last Saturday. Kansas swept the two teams – 235-65 against Nebraska Omaha and 229.5-70.5 against North Dakota. While North Dakota topped Nebraska Omaha 201-98.

Hannah Angell from Kansas won the 100 backstroke in 57.70. She would later win the 200 backstroke in 2:06.48.

Her teammate Bryce Hinde had the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.66. In another Jayhawk victory, Sonia Filatova had the 200 butterfly in 2:07.31.

Chelsie Miller had the 400 IM in a very notable swim of 4:18.76.

Courtney Funk from University of North Dakota won the 50 freestyle. Her final time was 24.50.

Natalie Renshaw of Nebraska Omaha won the 100 freestyle in 53.37. Her teammate Maddie Hutt won the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.53.
