While the 2025 World Championships were going on in Singapore, some of the top 18 and under swimmers from the US were busy moving up the all-time rankings at US Summer Juniors in Irvine, California. As it was quite the busy week for swimming, here is a summary from the top swims.
Boys
Sean Green‘s 3:47.07 400 Free, 7:55.94 800 Free, 15:07.49 1500 Free, 4:15.53 400 IM
Green had a huge meet this past week, going five for five best times as he also swam the 200 IM, and took down two meet records. He won the 1500 free on night one breaking the previous meet record that has stood since 2016 by nine seconds. His 1500 free would have been 5th at 2025 US Summer Nationals. Green also broke the meet record in the 800 free, breaking Luka Mijatovic‘s record by over three seconds in a time that would have been tied for 7th at US Summer Nationals. Green’s 400 free also would have been in the top eight at US Summer Nationals as his 3:47.07 would have been 4th.
Yi Zheng‘s 4:18.55 400 IM, 2:01.35 200 IM
The 16 year old from Carmel Swim Club moved up the all-time ranks in numerous events, with the most notable coming in the IM events. On the final night, he dropped two seconds after previously sitting at #20 all-time in the 15-16 age group to now sitting at #9. His 400 IM moved up from #11 to #7, sitting right behind Maximus Williamson.
Charlie Cancelmo‘s 1:58.27 200 Fly, 53.20 100 Fly
The 15 year old might not have earned an event win but he moved up the all-time ranks in the 15-16 age group as well. Cancelmo sits at #10 all-time in the 100 fly with a 53.20, just ahead of Caeleb Dressel who swam a 53.31 back when he was in the 15-16 age group. Cancelmo’s 200 fly sits at #8 in the age group just ahead of Carson Foster.
Ian Call‘s 1:00.49 100 Breast
Call was the top individual ranking swim of the meet with a 1:00.49 in the 100 breast, the #2 fastest ever in the 15-16 age group. Josh Matheny‘s NAG stands at a 1:00.17. Call holds the 13-14 NAG record which he set at this meet two years ago.
Girls
Emerson Callis 4:42.39 400 IM
The 17 year old dropped almost seven seconds off her lifetime best in the 400 IM to win the event in Irvine. She was entered as the #7 seed with a 4:49.38 but threw down a 4:42.39 in finals to climb up the all-time rankings. Prior to this weekend, she had not sat inside the top 100 all-time in the 17-18 age group but her swim in finals sits at #33 all-time. She did not even swim the event at 2025 US Summer Nationals in June but her time would have finished 6th.
Addie Robillard 2:27.11 200 Breast
Robillard’s best time entering the meet was a 2:27.50 that she swam two years ago at the 2023 edition of Summer Juniors. She has been in the 2:28-2:29 range since then but dropped a best time this week. Her time would have finished 5th at 2025 US Summer Nationals, moving her way up from her 15th place finish (2:32.28).
Julie Mishler 25.00 50 Free
Mishler entered the meet with a best time of a 25.06 from 2024 US Olympic Trials during a time trial. She was 14th at 2025 US Summer Nationals in a 25.08 but her time this weekend would have moved her up to #11. Mishler is headed to Louisville this fall and has a solid group of sprinters to train with such as Julia Dennis who was 6th at US Summer Nationals in a 24.59 and Caroline Larsen who was 11th in a 25.03.
Gabi Brito 55.49 100 Free, 59.49 100 Fly
15 year old Gabi Brito has already etched her name into the record books and moved her name up the all-time ranks this week. She swam to a 55.49 100 free, dropping from her previous best of a 55.74 and she now sits at #36 in the 15-16 age group all-time. Mason Manta Rays set two NAG records with the boys breaking the 15-18 200 medley relay record and the girls breaking the 17-18 400 medley relay record.
