Eagle Aquatics’ 13-year-old Erika Pelaez took nearly 3 seconds off her best in the 200 back. She won the final in 2:16.21.
Another veteran Olympian, Brazilian sprinter Bruno Fratus, took a win on the men’s side. Fratus led the 50 free in 22.16.
The final session of the meet will feature the 200 IM, 50 free, women’s 1500, men’s 800, and the 4×100 medley relays.
The Jamaican Olympian won the 100 breaststroke in about the same time as what she swam in March of last year.
Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield swept her events in region 1.
Bartram Trail’s Summer Stanfield put up the only automatic All-American time of the region 1 cluster (districts 1-3). Stanfield’s 2:00.73 puts her far ahead of the field heading into regionals and is nearly 2 seconds faster than her time from the 2017 state finals (her former lifetime best ahead of district prelims).
Ella Bathurst (Greater Tampa Swim Association) swam to victory in the girls 100 free, 200 free, 100 breast, and 200 IM.
