Highlighting Saturday for swims you might have missed in Irvine at Summer Juniors is Daniela Linares Danzos who swam a 1:01.95 in the 100 backstroke during a swim off. She was swimming for a spot in the ‘B’ final as she was tied for 16th in prelims but her time would have been 4th if she swam it during her original race in prelims. She went on to finish in a 1:02.54 for 10th, dropping from her entry time of a 1:02.78.
The girls 200 free featured Faith Gorey. Gorey was entered as the 36 seed with a 2:04.26 200 free which she swam in March this year at Indianapolis Sectionals. She dropped a second and a half on the day, moving up to win the ‘C’ final in a 2:02.77 to place 17th.
The boys side of the night was highlighted by Trevor Olson. Olson was entered with a yards entry time of a 1:36.89 that made him the 79th seed of the meet. His best LCM time entering the meet was a 1:55.30 from May. The Lafayette commit posted a 1:50.39 in finals to finish 9th overall.
Dropping over two and a half seconds in the 200 free was Kai Joyner. Joyner swam a best time of a 1:51.16 just last week at Futures in Madison but was even faster here with a 1:50.81. His best time before Futures was a 1:53.46 so he has dropped two and a half seconds in the last month.
The boys 200 breast featured a huge best time by Lucas Ackermann. Ackermann dropped 3.67 seconds in the 200 breast going from a 2:18.55 to a 2:14.88 to earn a 4th place finish. His entry time made him the 21 seed. He has made huge progress in the event this season as his best time last season was a 2:20.35.

Women’s 200 breast with Hazel Huilman going from a 2:36.15 entry time (43rd seed) to winning the D final in 2:31.35, the 6th fastest time out of all the finals, feels noteworthy too.
