Mary-Sophie Harvey of Canada did not swim the prelims of the 400 IM in Singapore on Sunday morning. Harvey was the #9 seed coming into meet with an entry time of 4:35.56. It took a 4:38.31 to qualify for the final tonight.
Earlier this week, Harvey won bronze in the 200 IM with a 2:09.15, about .4 off of her best time. She also raced the 200 free, placing 15th in 1:58.57, and the 200 breast, finishing 17th in 2:26.95.
Harvey set a new lifetime best time of 4:35.56 at the Canadian Swimming Trials in June, which ranks her 6th in the world this season.
Australia’s Ella Ramsay also did not swim the prelims of the 400 IM. The #10 seed coming into the meet, Ramsay was entered with her lifetime best time of 4:36.12, which she recently set at the Australian Swimming Trials.
Ramsay already raced three events at the World Championships, making it through to the semifinals in two of them. She placed 9th in the 200 breast in 2:24.24 and 11th in the 200 IM in 2:11.22, as well as finishing 21st in the 100 breast with a 1:07.23. All of her races this week were slightly off of her personal bests in those three events.
At the Olympic Games last summer, Ramsay posted a 5th-place finish in the 400 IM with a 4:38.01. Her performance at the Australian Swimming Trials in June ranked her 8th in the world this season prior to the start of the competition in Singapore.
With Sunday marking the last day of the 2025 World Championships, both Harvey and Ramsey’s individual campaigns have come to a close.
