Mahesh Kodikal 3 bachchon ke father hain, jinme se do- 15 saal ki Poorvi aur 12 saal ki Charvi ne state and national level swimming events me accolades jeete hain. 5 mahine pahle Mangaluru City Corporation ke Mangala Swimming Pool ke band hone ke baad se, Mr. Kodikal apni do betiyon aur apne 6 saal ke bete ko Mangaluru ke Yemmekere me international level ke swimming pool me training dene par har mahine ₹8000 Rupees kharch kar rahe hain.
Unhone kaha, Mangala pool me, MCC ne national and state level ke medal winners ke liye pool usage charges maaf kar diye, isliye unki betiyon ne wahan free me practice kiya. Repair work me baad Mangala Swimming Pool abhi tak functional nahi hai, isliye wo apni do betiyon ke evening training session ke liye Yemmekere Pool me ₹1000/month pay kar rahe hain. Unhone kaha ki total 30 athletes pool me practice ke liye ye fees dete hain.
Mr. Kodikal ne kaha ki Yemmekere Pool ka construction Mangaluru Smart City Ltd. Dwara Union Government ke Smart City Fund ka use karke kiya gaya hai. Unhone kaha, Mangala stadium me swimming athletes ko di jaane wali concession Yemmekere Pool par bhi laagu honi chahiye.
November 2023 me inaugurate kiye gaye Yemmekere swimming pool complex me 3 pool hain- 10 lane 50mx25m pool, 5 lane practice pool aur ak kids pool. Isme first floor par swimmers ke liye ak gymnasium, rest rooms and other facilities bhi hain. March se, We One Aqua pool ko run kar rahi hai. Isne haal hi me MSCL se pool ko operate karne aur maintanence ke liye 7 years ki lease secure ki hai. Swimmers ne coaching ke liye ₹3500/month fees liya jata hai, jisme ₹1000 pool charge hai. General public se swimming ke liye ₹100/hour charge kiya jata hai.
Veteran swimmer aur talented swimmers Alaister Rego & Aliyssa Rego ki maa Shirley Rego ne kaha ki Mangaluru and Coastal Karnataka me kai log natural swimmers hain. Unhone kaha, Agar pool charges ko affordable banaya jata hai toh isse sea and river swimming me maahir talented young swimmers ko Yemmekere me competition pool me jada time spent karne aur state and national competition me apni chhap chhodne ka mauka milega.
Mrs. Rego ne kaha ki state government ko Yemmekere Pool ko swimming me Centre of Excellence ke roop me develop karne ke liye aur jada invest karne ki jarurat hai.
Youth Services and Sports ke Deputy Director Pradeep D’Souza ne kaha ki Yemmekere Pool me swimming karne wale players ke liye pool charges maaf karne ka proposal jald hi Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan ki adhyakshta wali District Stadium Committee ke saamne rakha jayega.
