Bihar ke Madhubani district ke Rathaus village ke record breaking Para swimmer Shams Aalam, Takshila Open Water Swimming Competition me participate karne wale paraplegia se suffer karne wale first swimmer ke roop me history create karne ke liye taiyar hain. Iss saal ye event apne 14th edition me Patna me Ganga Nadi ke kinare Shiva Ghat Digha se Law College Ghat tak 12km ka challenging course cover karega.
Swimming Federation of India se affiliated Bihar Swimming Association iss competition ko host karega, jisme har state se lagbhag 50 competitors participate karenge. Ye event India me inclusive sports ka ak shining example hai, jisme male and female participants ka welcome kiya jata hai, saath hi disables ko shaamil karne ki bhi vakalat ki jaati hai, jisme Shams sahit 3 para swimmers iss event me participate kar rahe hain.
Shams ka sports career martial arts me black belt ke saath start hua, lekin 24 saal ki age me, ak life-changing diagnosis aur failed surgery ne unhe waist ke neeche paralyzed kar diya. Apne doctors aur apne aas paas ke logon se encourage hokar unhone swimming ki taraf rukh kiya aur 2012 tak, ak state championship me silver aur bronze medal jeeta. Ak decade ke baad, unhone state, national and international competitions me kai medals jeete, jinme sabse recent gold, silver aur bronze shaamil hai, Goa me 24th National Para Swimming Championship. TEDx speaker aur para sports aur accessibility kr supporter Shams ko U.S. Department of State, President of India and Bihar Government dwara persons with disabilities ke liye inclusion and opportunities ko promote karne ke unke efforts ke liye manyata di gayi hai.
Shams unn 17 para athletes me se ak hain jinhe CBM India dwara support kiya ja raha hai. Ye ak not-for-profit organization hai jo ak inclusive society ko badhawa dene ke liye dedicated hai, Jahan disable log apne full potential ko haasil kar sakein. Apne Inclusive Sports program ke through, jo iske ak donors ki CSR initiative dwara funded hai, CBM India sportspersons ko unke specific needs ke base par tailored support provide karta hai. Apne first year me 8 athletes ke saath start kiye gaye iss program ka kaafi vistar hua, jisne Shams jaise athletes ko consistent financial backing ke saath apne dreams ko achieve karne ke liye empower kiya hai.
