MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan swimming and diving head coach Peter Solomon has announced the hiring of Seamus Trzewik-Quinn as the new assistant swimming coach. He will also have department responsibilities throughout the year, including assisting with Physical Education Classes and Event Management duties at other varsity competitions. Coach Solomon, who starts his 10th season as Wesleyan Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach shared that, “It was evident in our conversations that Seamus was very knowledgeable about our program. From his conversations with his close childhood friend, three-time All-American, and recent graduate, Caroline Murphy ’20, Seamus enjoyed following along on the team’s progress in recent years. He also has two younger siblings who presently swim for Connecticut College. Seamus understands and has an appreciation for the academic priorities for student-athletes in our conference as well as the balance that NESCAC athletes strive for with their academic and athletic responsibilities.”

Trzewik-Quinn, who swam competitively for over 15 years, holds numerous club, district, and high school records. As a four-year swimmer and backstroke specialist for UMass Amherst, Seamus was an Atlantic-10 honor roll recipient and five-time Atlantic-10 conference finalist. His extensive background as a collegiate swimmer, swim coach, clinician, and swim lesson instructor impressed everyone on the search committee.

Upon accepting the offer, Seamus commented that he was, “elated to become the newest Wesleyan University assistant swim coach. After recently completing four years of being a division one student-athlete, I am thrilled to make the transition to join a powerful program in the highly-competitive NESCAC conference. This opportunity will allow me to share my knowledge and experience to help the team achieve both their academic and swimming goals.”
