BROCKTON, MASS – The Sacred Heart University women’s swimming and diving team continued its strong start to the season with an impressive sweep on the road, defeating Merrimack, 209–90, and Stonehill, 198–95, in Sunday’s tri-meet at Massasoit Community College.
The Pioneers opened the day with a victory in the 400 medley relay, as Maddie Goret, Maggie Holland, Sophie Tonello, and Sophia Velleco combined for a winning time of 3:58.65, setting the tone for a dominant team performance.
Velleco led the way for the Pios as a triple winner, capturing the 100 butterfly (58.20) and 200 butterfly (2:09.27) titles, while also anchoring the winning medley relay. Maddie Goret was a double winner, taking first in the 400 individual medley (4:39.64) and contributing to the medley relay victory.
Maggie Holland added another strong swim for the Pioneers, winning the 200 breaststroke (2:28.63).
Other standout performances included Kristen Baker’s win in the 100 backstroke (59.03) and Brooke Labarge’s first-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:00.12).
The diving squad once again delivered for SHU, with Ryleigh Mahoney winning the five-dive event (183.60) and Kara Leahy taking the 1-meter title (253.28) to round out a complete team effort.
With the sweep, the Pioneers continue to build momentum heading deeper into their fall schedule. Sacred Heart returns to action on Friday, November 8, when they visit Rider University when they continue MAAC play.

BROCKTON, Mass. (Oct. 26, 2025) – The Stonehill swimming team hosted Merrimack and Sacred Heart at Massasoit Community College Pool Sunday afternoon.
The Skyhawks earned a 147-140 victory over the Warriors to pick up their first dual win of the season. Stonehill dropped the meet to Sacred Heart, 198-95, while the Pioneers also topped Merrimack by a score of 209-90.
In the final meet of the race, Stonehill’s 200 freestyle relay capped the victory against Merrimack by winning the event of a collective mark of 1:41.05, as junior Grace Idowu, junior Sherri Danforth, sophomore Chihiro Bringman and sophomore Elizabeth Weston defeated the Warriors’ relay team by 0.46 seconds.
Idowu also earned victory in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.58, and she was second in the 100 freestyle (54.09). Winning the 100 freestyle was senior Kristy Barry who touched the ball first at 53.87. Barry also came in second in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 2:00.49.
Idowu, Barry and Weston joined sophomore Lily Peterson on the 400 medley relay that took second with a mark of 3:59.35. Peterson clocked the fastest time in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.35), and she was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.64).
Freshman Emma Kawai won the 200 backstroke (2:11.43), and she was fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:47.50) to earn key points.

BROCKTON, Mass. – The Merrimack College Swimming and Diving team competed in a tri-meet against Sacred Heart and Stonehill on Sunday at Massasoit Community College. The Warriors and Stonehill went down to the final relay, and the Skyhawks outtouched Merrimack by less than a half second, to take a 147-140 win.

● Casey Bednarek came in 5th place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:02.57.

● Camila De La Rosa came in 4th in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:34.05 and Sami Guadagnino came in 5th with a time of 2:37.54.
● Neva Sa finished 1st in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:26.14.
● Cameron Zuliani placed 2 nd in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:01.09 and Abby Condon placed 5th with a time of 1:01.85.
● The Merrimack College ‘A’ team, which consisted of Ally Jacques, Keeley Harney, Cameron Zuliani, and Kendra Daily, came 2nd in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:41.51 and the ‘B’ team, which consisted of Maddie McAloon, Liz Vursta, Kobi Wong, and Abby Condon, came 4th with a time of 1:43.99.
