Para Swimmer Aalam Ne Open Water Me World Record Set Kiya

Paraplegic swimmer ke roop me kuch naya achieve karne ki constant koshish me, Mohammad Shams Aalam Shaikh ne Sunday ko ak world record banaya. Bihar ke Madhubani district ke Rathaus village ke para-athlete Patna me National Takshila Open Water Swimming Competition me open water me sabse lambi swimming successfully complete karne  wale paraplegia se suffer karne wale first swimmer ban gaye.

Aalam ki iss feat ko Sunday ko World Records Union ne officially acknowledge kiya aur certify kiya.

Aalam ne Ganga river ke kinare Janardan Ghat se Law College Ghat tak 13km ki distance 2:03.13 seconds ke time ke saath complete ki aur 50 participants me se 32nd place par rahe, jisme Patna ke ak anya para swimmer Anil Kumar bhi shaamil the. Swimming Federation of India se affiliated Bihar Swimming Association dwara aayojit iss event ka iss saal 14th edition tha.

Event complete hone ke baad Shams ne Patna se Times of India ko bataya, “Cheezen waisi hi hui, jaisi maine ummeed ki thi.” “Main soch raha tha ki isme lagbhag 1 ghanta 45 minutes lagenge, lekin event ke bahot der se start hone ki wajah se meri body dehydrate ho gayi, isliye mujhe jitna laga usse thoda jada time laga. Ise subah 11 baje start hona tha, lekin aakhirkar ye dophar 12:30 baje start hua. Overall, ye achha raha.”

“Actually, ye mere first open water event nahi hai, maine pahle bhi aisa kiya hai.”

But ye sabse badi hai. 2019 me, maine Ganga me 2km swimming ki, jo ak fast swim thi. Main iss event ka eagerly wait kar raha tha kyunki ye har saal hota tha, lekin last 2 saalon se ye nahi hua. Mujhe pata hai ki agar main ise complete karta hun, toh ye ak record banayega,” Aalam ne kaha.

Iss tarah ki open water swimming ke challenge ke baare me puchhe jaane par, unhone bataya, “jab mujhe iss baar competition ke baare me pata chala, toh maine taiyari start kar di. Sabse achhi baat ye hai ki meri national championship haal hi me khatm hui hai. Jab hum short distances ke liye training lete hain, toh hum jadatar speed pe focus karte hain, lekin long distances ke liye hum endurance par kaam karte hain kyunki hume long distances cover karni hoti hai. Mujhe lagta hai ki ye competition meri national championship ke baad sahi time par aai hai, aur ye 12-13km ki distance par mere liye pahli badi competition hai.”

19-22 October ko Goa me aayojit 24th National Para Swimming Championship me, Aalam ne 200m individual medley (SM5 category) me ak gold, 100m freestyle me ak silver aur 100m butterfly me ak bronze medal jeeta hai.

Pool aur open water me swimming ke differences ke baare me elaborate karte huye bataya ki, “Pool me swimming quite tough hai kyunki paani stable hota hai aur hume isme aage badhna hota hai. Sea or river me swimming karne me , agar tairte time current aapke saath flow hoti hai, toh ye thoda easy ho jata hai.

But pool me paani saaf hota hai aur kisi cheez ka dar nahi hota. Halanki, rivers me dar rahta hai ki kahin jellyfish ya koi aur water animal na aa jaaye. Chunki, kuchh din pahle Chhath Pooja thi, isliye paani me koi aisi cheezen ho sakti hain jo nuksan pahocha sakti hai aur achanak aapno dara sakti hain. Isliye, kabhi kabhi chinta ki koi baat nahi baat nahi hoti. Lekin mujhe khushi hai ki aaj sab kuch thik raha,” Aalam ne conclude kiya.
