FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November. 7, 2025) – Northern Arizona Swimming & Diving put on a show inside the Wall Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon, rolling to a 191.5-108.5 victory over New Mexico State behind a sweep of both diving events, multiple 1–2–3 finishes, and a new school record in the 200-yard medley relay.
The Lumberjacks opened the meet with a statement in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Gracie Munk, Cydnie Perkins, Isahbel Krasht, and Kokona Watanabe clocked a 1:40.77 to take first place, just ahead of New Mexico State’s A-squad. NAU’s B-relay of Kathleen Richter, Trelise Dance, Kaci Kelaher, and Camryn Brown finished fourth at 1:44.58, keeping the early points in Lumberjack control.
The meet closed in record-breaking fashion as Watanabe, Elsa Musselman, Brown, and Munk stormed to a 3:23.98 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, breaking the facility record and securing the meet’s final victory in front of a packed home crowd.
Cydnie Perkins swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 100 (1:01.72) and 200 (2:18.31), later adding another title in the 200 IM (2:05.57). Gracie Munk dominated the backstroke with wins in the 100 (54.63) and 200 (2:02.42), leading off the winning 200 medley relay and anchoring 400 free relay. Elsa Musselman collected a trio of top finishes, taking first in the 200 fly (2:01.55) and 100 fly (54.33) while placing second in the 100 free. Kaci Kelaher and Isahbel Krasht followed closely in butterfly and distance events, helping NAU lock up major points through the middle portion of the meet.
Head coach Andy Johns praised his team’s focus and energy throughout the meet.
“Our girls love racing at home, we have the best home-pool advantage up here [at altitude],” said Coach Johns. “The mindset coming in was that we were challenged last week and needed to get a little better, and they did a great job. Attitude is the biggest thing, and they had a great attitude today.”
The Lumberjack divers once again swept the podium in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
Senior Grace Wesche won the 3-meter with a score of 316.20, followed by Margaret Wesche (302.70) and Mackenna Stocker (298.80). On the 1-meter board, Margaret Wesche claimed victory with a 294.23, narrowly edging Grace Wesche (292.88) and Stocker (271.80).
Associate Head Coach / Head Diving Coach Nikki Kelsey also highlighted the team’s success on the boards. “To sweep the Aggies is always great for us,” said Kelsey. “I’m super excited for what’s going to be happening over the next few weeks.”
The Lumberjacks took first in 11 of 16 events, showcasing impressive depth across all strokes and distances. NAU’s balance between elite sprinting, strong mid-distance depth, and dominant diving carried them to a decisive 83-point margin over the visiting Aggies. The win moves NAU to 2–1 in dual meets this fall, continuing a streak of home dominance in Flagstaff.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – On Friday, NM State Swimming & Diving took on Northern Arizona in a road dual. The Lumberjacks entered as winners of 12 straight WAC titles with hopes of maintaining their success through both squads’ first year in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The visitors prevailed 191.5-108.5, handing NM State its second straight dual defeat. The Aggies trek to Phoenix tomorrow for a day at Grand Canyon’s pool, starting at 11:00 AM.
Head Coach Rick Pratt, on the meet: “Traveling up to Flagstaff is always a big challenge. Despite the loss, the score does not show how well we competed. Our freestylers were strong today with Katie [Rink] and Dijana [Mazumdar] swimming the fastest times in the MPSF as of today. Dreamer [Kowatch] also had an incredible day swimming right on her best time winning the 200, and also with a conference-leading swim. Mira [Tinani] had a strong day qualifying for zones on the 3m and that group is making strides every week. We had mostly all season-best swims today and have much to be proud of. Hats off to NAU for swimming lights out; they competed very well and are always a tough team. We’re excited for tomorrow, which will be another chance to get better and keep competing.
Across the 16 events, NM State collected five first-place finishes and 16 of 48 podium spots. Dreamer Kowatch (200 free) earned a gold while Katie Rink (1000 free, 500 free) and Dijana Mazumdar (50 free, 100 free) each finished first in two events.
Mira Tinani wowed with a score of 281.78 in the 3m dive, qualifying for another trip to the NCAA Zone Diving Championships in March. The junior already clinched a spot in the 1m competition after her stellar 299.63 score against Northern Colorado on Oct. 25.
The day began with a 2-3 finish for NM State in the 200 medley relay. Kira Brownell, Kodi Wiman, Emily Dobbins and Dijana Mazumdar (1:42.08) made up the A group, while Thea Masselink, Faye McDonagh, Willow Messner and Caroline Costantini were not far behind (1:43.93).
In the 1000 free, Katie Rink (10:23.31) saw her teammate Estel Galo grab a third-place finish at 11:13.26. Later, Dreamer Kowatch’s gold medal in the 200 free (1:52.58) came less than a half second before freshman Natalia Florian touched the wall in second (1:52.99).
Mazumdar dominated the middle of the day with gold-medal times of 23.29 and 50.25 in the 50 free and 100 free, respectively. Later, Florian added a third-place time of 5:12.77 in the 500 free, behind teammate Katie Rink in first (5:02.38).
