With the 2026 Commonwealth Games on the horizon for later this summer, Scottish Swimming has revealed its 23-strong lineup set to represent the nation in Glasgow.
Big guns Keanna MacInnes and Katie Shanahan are among those added to the lineup, to which Olympians Duncan Scott and Angharad Evans were already named earlier this year.
Double European U23 Championships gold medalist MacInnes is headed to her third edition of the Commonwealth Games, as 2022 Birmingham medalist Shanahan is gearing up for her second appearance.
Lucy Hope has also been selected, ready to represent Scotland for a remarkable fourth Games after making her debut in 2014 at just 17 years of age.
Additional team members include 2022 medalist Evan Jones, World Junior Championships medalist Archie Goodburn, and Holly McGill.
On her being added to the team, Shanahan told Scottish Swimming, “I’m absolutely delighted to be picked for my second Commonwealth Games. I’ve got a lot of family and friends coming to watch and it’s literally down the road from where I live so it just makes it even more special. It’s not long now with the final preparations and competitions coming up and the excitement is definitely building.
“Competing for Team Scotland is just so different, it only happens once every four years and there’s a different energy about it all. It’s different in a very good way and I’m looking forward to getting back in that environment in the prep camp and then in Glasgow. I just can’t wait to compete.”
Scotland finished 6th in the 2022 Commonwealth Games swimming medal table, amassing 12 pieces of hardware, including 2 golds, 1 silver and 9 bronze.
Gold medals included Scott winning the men’s 200m freestyle and 200m IM events.

Strong Scottish team, nice mix of youth and experience – Possibly fewer medal chances than 2014, but more gold medal chances. Hope the media don’t whip up a circus around the McCann’s, but I won’t hold my breath. Good luck to all.
Woah Sean McCann is Maddie’s brother? 🤯
Yes, and I do hope the media leave him and his parents alone.
