Lani Pallister Posts #2 Performance All-Time In Women’s 1500 Freestyle, Only Behind Ledecky

Lani Pallister posted the #2 performance all-time in the women’s short course meters (SCM) 1500 freestyle en route to a win in Westmont. The Australian broke her own Australian National Record by eight seconds and also marked a new US Open Record by over 20 seconds.

Pallister was consistently faster today than she was three years ago. Today, she only was above the 1:02 mark on one 100 compared to doing so four times a few years ago. She also was under the 1:01 mark all the way through the first 600, compared to only being under 1:01 once during the middle of the race previously.

Pallister smashed the US Open Record of a 15:42.05 set back in 2022 at the World Cup during a time trial by Katie Grimes of the US. Grimes was set to compete this weekend in Westmont but was a late scratch, although she was not entered in the 1500 free to begin with.

Pallister moves up the all-time rankings as she previously held the 6th fastest performance of all-time back in 2022. She now holds three of the top 10 performances in history. The only other swimmer to appear more than once in the all-time top 10 performances is Anastasiia Kirpichnikova who sits at #4 and #6.

Probably focusing only LC and I remember she broke the world record just swimming both 800 and 1500 once back in 2022
