Key Responsibilities

 

  • Plan and direct the implementation of the National High-Performance Program:
    • Build national pride and team spirit amongst the high performance swimming ecosystem.
      • To focus on a “Relay Vision” for our targets on Olympics 2024 and 2028 where we focus on building relays that can be competitive at Asian and World Level whilst giving special support for extraordinary individual talent.
    • Daily training environment (DTE) delivery in National training centre (NTC) and Performance Development Centres (PDC) towards National Performance Agenda
    • Mentor / Collaborate (weekly):
      • NTC coaches
      • High Performance team (HPT) Staff including technical director, team manager, Singapore Sports Institute (SSI) / National Youth Sports Institute (NYSI) leads and sports scientists
    • Head Coach at Major Games
      • Track all potential qualifiers and collaborate with coaches pre and post qualification, local and abroad on expected performance progressions.
    • Lead Functional Support Program (FSP) for all National SPEX Scholars

 

  • Direct the implementation of the Aquatic Performance Development Centres (APDC) (Pipeline Development):
    • DTE delivery toward pipeline development
    • Guide quarterly APDC development meetings

 

  • Plan and direct all aspects of High Performance Coach development:
    • Chair of High Performance Coaches Committee (HPCC)
    • Provide open/collaborative learning environment at NTC’s for High Performance and Pipeline Development coaches
    • To plan and execute the SG Coach Level 2 and 3 coaching courses
    • To plan and execute coaching workshops for the CoachSSA membership
    • Provide mentorships to local high performance coaches especially those in the NTC, APDC and coaches who have athletes on track for junior national team selections (Talent ID and Tier 3 coaches)

 

  • Pipeline Development Initiatives
    • Engage with coaches and carded athletes on track for Junior National Team selections.
    • Parent Engagement for best practices for on-track development athletes with National Team potential.

 

  • Selection’s Committee
    • Development of selection criteria for all teams, junior and senior
    • Committee member in Team selections for major games

 

  • Policy Development
    • Assist / Advise in Multi Year Sports Plan revision/development
    • Assist / Advise in High Performance Plan revision / development
    • Assist / Advise in Pipeline Pathway revision / development

 

  • National Training Centre:
    • Plan and direct the NTC programme, including long and short term performance plans focused on major games outcomes.

 

  • Establish a 4-year national rolling calendar of swimming events (local and international) focused on major games outcomes, with key stakeholders. Ensure that, at the start of each season, the swimming fraternity is briefed on the national focus for the season, the qualification criteria and processes, and the domestic annual calendar (including qualifying times) that will be adopted.

 

  • Stakeholders Management of partners and media:
    • build trust and strong relations with key partners and stakeholders including
      • Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), Sport Singapore, National Youth Sport Institute, Singapore Sports School.
      • SSA affiliates and associates
      • sponsors and donors
    • media spokesperson for the SSA with regards to athletes performances

Requirements

  • Possess technical knowledge of swimming with relevant swimming coaching certifications of National Registry of Coaches (NROC) Level 3 or equivalent
  • Proven track record of coaching swimming at national team level
  • Ability to adapt and relate to the local swimming ecosystem of athletes, coaches and clubs
  • Ability to work with, nurture and supervise high performance coaches and sports scientists
  • Good skills in public communication including managing media, affiliates, parents and coaches.
  • Ability to develop, in collaboration with the Executive Director and Technical Director a realistic, aspiring and sustainable high performance system for Singapore Swimming that includes athlete development, coach development and club development.
