What You’ll Do

Lead Instructional Excellence

Team New York Aquatics (TNYA) is New York City’s largest masters swim team and the largest LGBTQ+-inclusive swim club in the United States. 

We are looking for energetic, experienced coaches to lead adult swim practices for masters swimmers on a weekly basis at our Borough of Manhattan Community College (Tribeca) location on Sundays at 1pm-1.30pm, Mondays 7pm-8.30pm, and Wednesdays 7pm-8.30pm. 

TNYA is more than a swim team — it’s a community. Our athletes range from first-time adult swimmers to nationally competitive masters athletes, creating a unique environment where personal growth, inclusion, and performance all have a place. Coaches are paid $30 hourly (plus one free TNYA practice per practice coached) and will be scheduled to coach one practice a week, with time to be mutually agreed between coach and TNYA.

    • Develop and conduct daily practices and oversee a competitive NCAA intercollegiate schedule, including ensuring travel to and from away competitions, consistent with department and University policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While this role has peak operational seasons, it is a full-year position. During non-peak periods, the employee is expected to actively contribute to planning, program development, staff training, facility upkeep, and other organizational priorities.

  1. Work directly with the Mission Advancement and Operations teams to direct, plan, and deliver the Competitive Swimming programs for the Harrisburg Area YMCA.

  3. Plan, promote, and execute association-wide meets, events, and experiences to increase program revenues while offering unique competitive swimming opportunities to all aquatics athletes. Assist in all aspects of meet/tournament management including entries, setup, and breakdown.
  4. Coordinate Harrisburg Area YMCA Competitive Swimming Coaching Staff to ensure consistency in programming, safety, and operations at all YMCA hosted meets, events, and tournaments.

  8. Responsible for growth within Competitive Swimming programs at all Harrisburg Area YMCA locations. Plan annual recruiting drives, oversee roster and retention planning for all age group training. Plan and provide opportunities for placement/tryouts for new athletes throughout the year.
  9. Provide a safe and supportive environment for all participants, including strict adherence to the Praesidium program, aquatic safety plan, and Safe Sport requirements.
  10. In summer months, prioritize Competitive Swimming Program growth using internal and external partnerships, including participants in YMCA Youth Sports programs, day camps, and external sources of potential program participants (ie local aquatics clubs, clinics, etc).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Preferred four-year degree from an accredited college and experience in competitive swimming as a student athlete.
  2. Minimum of 5 years swim coaching experience required or equivalent competitive team management.
  3. Current certifications in BLS/Professional Rescuer CPR, First Aid, Athlete Protection Training and ASCA level 4 or higher, and lifeguarding preferred. YMCA Swim Coach certification/registration required within 30 days of hire.

Hurricane Aquatics is a full-service swim program at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.  The program was formed in 2003 with a learn-to-swim program and a recreational summer camp.  2014 Hurricane Aquatics (CANES) created a USA Swimming registered competitive team.  Swimmers range in age and ability from 10 and under swimmers who can race at least a 200 IM through post-graduate/international competitors. CANES is a Safe Sport recognized and a USA Swimming Club Recognition Program Level 3 member.

CANES is seeking an Assistant Coach to work with swimmers ages 8-17 on a daily basis.  The coach will write both dryland and water training workouts.

Position Expectations:

  • Reports to the Head Coach
  • Minimum of 5+ years of coaching experience preferred, 
  • 25-30 hours per week plus at least one meet per month. This position can expand to full-time for the right combination of skills.
  • Working knowledge of USA Swimming and FHSAA rules.
  • Working knowledge/application of stroke technique, swimmer development, and race strategy
  • Working knowledge of  season planning and incorporating training phases and multiple intervals into workouts.
